@D M I don't think one has to write the music one is playing to be classified as a genius! Genius in my definition of the word is someone who creates something new and entirely their own and in her case it seems spontaneous and in the moment. I might be wrong and she may have worked on this piece before and came up with the rendition she is playing in this particular recording. About to check out the definition of genius!

We're all going to grow old and be discarded by the world. This is a great reminder of the sweetness in one's soul that's eternal. She has tons of life experiences flowing out of that playing; the bitter and the sweet. Even crippled hands can't hold back her ability to create beauty. You have to understand the value of respect in order to judge the respectable worth of another person. If you think respect is to be earned by an elder, go tell your boss to fuck off or better yet, use his coffee mug. Park in his spot. Address customers as though you were a manager even though you're not. Dress as a police officer and pull someone over. Even better yet, get pulled over by a real cop and then peel off... You're an idiot to think some old person has to climb your wall after every other mountain of shit they've overcome in their life.

During my employment history I was once a Certified Nurses Assistant ( CNA ). During my one & only stint at a nursing home we had a resident who was 80+ years old and suffered from dementia. On her bad days she would either be belligerent, violent, or both. On her good days, she would ask to be wheeled in her wheelchair to either the Organ in the front dining room of the facility, or the Piano which was in the rear dining room of the facility. Once she was placed in a playing position in front of either of the keyboards, she would shift her eyes toward where the wall would meet the ceiling and speak to some unseen person. Who, we could never figure out because she wouldn't tell us ( " That's none of your business ", she'd say. lol ). After she would speak to whoever it was after about 45 seconds to a minute, she would commence playing. Oh my lord she was phenomenal. Ragtime, Blues, Piano Concerto pieces, Jazz, Folk music. I mean, she could just play it all so flawlessly. Was she talking to God, or a long lost loved one asking them to give her the strength to play, or was she dedicating what she was about to do to them ? Who knows. What I do know is that I would have loved nothing more than have been able to see Edie perform when she was in her prime. She must have been something else.

I understand how a person can enter into this state like the lady you talk about here. I have something called hydrocephalus. I am so self conscious of this constantly. It is like I hear everyone criticizing or making fun of me. When I go to the piano though, I forget about all that. I used to be able to read sheet music fluently but have forgotten it but now I play by ear. I can pick any song that I hear on the radio or computer and can play it. I have never played in front of a crowd but I'm working on it. Thank you for your comment. It is most inspiring to me.

Kage Krôss .....when you play in front of people, think of it as a show of gratitude for the life you have been blessed with. Seek compassion for all of mankind and allow it to fuel your passion for music . Allow your soul the freedom to channel itself through you.....as if you were opening the door for a little old lady. Her music really reflects a story. A story only we can imagine of what she must have experienced, where all she wants to share is the emotion she experienced. Every time she keyed a low not, I could feel the anxiety, the pauses were moments of reflection and change of circumstances, the higher notes and melodies are emotional rollercoasters. All while she is remembering key moments of her life and giving you a taste of those emotions. Just beautiful

Я не удивлюсь, если ещё знает несколько иностранных языков. Такое образование в то далёкое и не простое время могли получить не многие в отличие от сегодняшних дней.
