Street Tuning Fully Built LS VTEC Engine! | Honda Civic EG Hatch

Today we are street tuning the Fully Built LS VTEC engine! Now that the engine is running and driving, Its time to get this thing tuned nicely so that I can daily drive it and put some miles on it.
Our adventure today begins by driving the EG out to my friend Eduardo's house (@that_turbo_white_civic_). Eduardo has tuned the EG in the past and it's been fun working with him. I'm excited to bring the full send turbo civic back out to him today.
Our goal here is not to make power, but to set it up with a reliable tune for daily driving.

Aim for 14.6-14.7 cruising 13.8 moderate throttle 12.9-13.0 at WOT 0-4psi 12.0 Above 4psi I’d suggest 11.50-11.7 depending on 93 or ethanol. Hope this helps!

High-Performance Academy suggests 12.6-13.2 at WOT, and 14-14.7 while cruising. 11.0 AFR at WOT is what is recommended for a turbo application, with slighlty richer AFRs in general to help keep the cylinders cool and prevent detonation.

He tuned the turbo set up to 12.5 afr (lean) and it blew. He then tuned the all motor car to 11.5afr(rich for all motor) . This tuners has some learning to do. 12.5 to 13 is for all motor 11.5 is good for turbo. i'm curious to what the timing map looks like .

Low load I liked 15.2 afr, mid/cruising load I'm around a 13.5 and wot I'm running 11.5ish. I'd have to double check my timing map(laptop is in the car) but it's roughly retarded 1 degree per psi. I had to really work on my fuel tables to get a nice clean curve on the table and a good powerband

@@Dluzy I also had to adjust the timing table quite a bit. Depending on what you're tuning on but the base timing map I got was really bad if I'm being honest. A lot of weird heavy fluctuations. I had to add a lot of timing in boost around the 4k rpm range because it was so far off that you could actually feel it stop firing when shifting and getting back into boost

Im glad your running it na for awhile. Get some steady miles on her then boost it yo! Currently doing the same with my vitara speedfactory rod d16. Just running na for a while then about mid summer put my turbo kit on and dyno tune.

Washing the cylinders: it runs too rich and the gas doesnt allow the oil to bond to the cylinder. This means the rings will not properly set. Itll cause terrible wear patterns and the rings will not have a good seal. If this happens, your new engine will burn alot of oil. You should never break the car in as rich as 11-13:1 unless the car is on corn. You should always aim for 14.5:1 on normal pump gas. Make sure to cycle the rpms up high and let them down on decel so that the rings seat well.

Yup put a base map drive it let the engine rev down to reverse set the rings and keep it at different rpms you only get 1 shot to seat the rings

@@angelwrx3255 it's not negative it doesn't not take rings 500 miles to break in. They are like 90% broken in in the first hour of running and driving. Also running rich is worse for the rings because fuel cleans the oil and during break in they rub the hardest.

@@percules9589 yeah cruising on pump gas can be between 14.7 to 15.3 for good gas mileage under load should be between 13.5-13.0 wot all motor should be anywhere between 13.0-12.7 imo and boosted should be between 12.0-11.5 depending on what fuel is used. This tuner is tuning vehicles way to rich all around and that will wash out your rings unfortunately. I’m not trying to hate on this tuner but if your young and not real experienced in something that is pretty serious that could cost you a motor please don’t offer to tune peoples vehicles. Also remember that’s why his tunes cost $100 you get what you pay for. Shit shoot me a message boosted John I will remote street or dyno tune your car for $300 boosted or NA.
