People of South Asia have their palates at such a high level of good taste that food of other countries doesn't taste as good. Even if you look at Turkish food, it doesn't have much Masala and at times, it tastes bland and dare I say, boring. I am sure that after eating at these two Indian and Pakistani restaurants, you felt really good and recharged! There's no food in the world like South Asian Pakistani/Indian food. Your visit to the India Gate & Pakistani Darbar restaurants the same night was interesting! However I thought the food was probably spiced differently than at home, more tuned to the tourists! A lot of dishes in India are actually served in tiny buckets ( balti dal, dal tadka), cauldron (kadhai chicken, kadhai paneer) and pot (handi chicken, palak handi) etc. The miniature cutlery are my absolute favourite. Mostly this is something we observe in North Indian dishes. But even certain South/East Indian dishes are served out of buckets in large gatherings and religious food fests.

@@kiteknight23 Not sure where you perceived this information from, but Hindus aren’t forbidden to eat non-veg. Hinduism does advocate “ahimsha”, meaning non-violence which means it advocates not killing animals and limiting/restricting oneself to vegetarian food only. But a lot of Hindus do eat non veg and it has been so for pretty long. You might want to look into different customs around India about people’s food preferences and how they vary over certain days of the month/region/ethnicity etc.
