Gentrification is just another warning to our community to shape up. There's too much money and influence out here and they're gonna get it one way or the other, with or without you. None of our hoods should be gentrified if we're holding them down as we should. Keeping our our hoods clean, prosperous and safe, black business, community unity, etc. But the fact that we don't and have allowed violence, drugs and other factors affect our community, coupled with the absence of a push for real education and work ethic like we once had, whites score on the opportunity to make money where we live as we continue to be further pushed into oblivion.

To everyone complaining about gentrification: that's why we shouldn't be relying and expecting government handouts in the first place. This is why its important to raise our kids to want to be educated professionals, and quit talking like rapping, sports, and entertainment are our only way to a decent income. Those are all low percentage, unstable careers. Some of our neighborhoods got gang problems, crime problems, multi-generational poverty and you thought the gov't is just gonna let that be the status quo *forever*? Naw, money is bigger than all that. As soon as a corporation or investor gets interested in making a profit, they will do what needs to be done to clean the area up. Cleaner streets, higher property values, higher property taxes, lower crime rate. Who WOULDN'T want be somewhere like that? It don't matter what color your are, with the flow of the money or get lost. It ain't that there won't be ANY black folks in these neighborhoods anymore, but it will only be folks (black, white, mexican, etc) who earn a middle class income.

I never thought there would be a day where you can walk through the projects just to get to South Gate. That's fucking crazy. This is def. corporate America trying to kick the low income families out of Watts. This is gonna cause more fucking homeless than Los Angeles can already handle. I work down the street from the Jordan Downs. I have yet to see any white people moving into the area. The only whites you see are the teachers, cops and other professionals who work in the area. The surrounding areas of the projects are still run down and the area is majority Latino (whites tend to want to live in majority white neighborhoods). It is true that the property value will rise causing all the low lives to move out to Palmdale/Lancaster via section 8 but I doubt that you will see white people replace them. Most likely it will be educated middle class Latinos and blacks who can afford to move in the new condos.
