It's been obvious since the use of pas increased, that patients are not being given even the most basic diagnostic blood tests. They are not being referred for scans,xrays and biopsies. Skin cancer is being missed and only when patients have developed cancer elsewhere,which need not have happened if a referral had been made to at least a dermatologist. Now ,there are waiting lists of years for a first appointment after referral but if you are not referred for years after you develop skin cancer,by the the time you get a first appointment,the cancer has metasticised. If treatment is considered to be effective,you will be offered it. If not you are now denied treatment. This is americanised corporate healthcare. When streeting talks about hitting targets,he's talking about spending money only on young patients ,of working age,who are likely to recover completely with medical intervention. Life extending treatments are now unavailable on the nhs,for diseases like cancer,ms and mnd. The decrease in life extending medications preceded the push to legalise euthanasia which is no accident. It is obscene to hear streeting quipping about hitting targets like the nhs is a retail outlet. In private health insurance,even if you have a great policy,the insurance companies usually refuse treatments saying ther isn't 'enough evidence' of success to justify giving patients the treatments. This way, health insurance companies make tons of profits while patients die,but they always hit their profit 'targets'. I know cancer patients who went private thinking they would get the best treatment,only to find out that they were not on the most effective treatment at all and that the nhs were offering the most effective treatment,the one that was best for that particular cancer. The private treatment was only offering the bare minimum of the cheapest treatment knowing it was not going to cure the patient,but that there was a treatment that could cure them and it was available on the nhs free. People in the uk need to understand what is going on with healthcare,both in the nhs and what private healthcare does. As mental care professional who has worked closely with all NHS staff, I definitely neec to say to lay lower yhsm that! Doctors are racist and sexist, sbleist, arrogant and very often keen on delegating where they shouldn't. Im the UK, compatef to many other EU countries, patients are 11 more times likely to die for preventable causes. And that's doctors' fault. I myself, even ss a patient with serious chronic health issues found out that the doctor lief on my health report. Despite having had a serious adverse reaction to an antibiotic that caused liver damage. And have been left to either go private or deal with it myself. Period. So no, NHS doctors aren't heroes. They're actually overpaid and arrogant well above their skills. BTW, my professional experience with them is decades long!
