As an American I have hardly traveled in my own country yet alone abroad. I would travel to Australia just for summernats alone. You folks build some beautiful cars.. The whole burnout competition in the states is not really big but it is growing. Would love just to visit even for a day !!

I think it`s great that the Aussie age demographic for older custom cars can attract younger enthusiasts. In the USA, classic car culture might be fading for the under 20`s. They are still driving but in plain Jane SUV`s or pickup trucks seem to be the preference.It looked like the average attendee for this show was under 40.Not so here in the USA.You would think that rolling artwork that makes noise while being somewhat practical should attracts the kids.

I can never understand why rear plastic bumpers are not removed for burnouts but there was a car with guard protectors made up to protect the car and it was a steel bumper,a HQ i think it was. Plastic bumpers are just a fire hazard and one day they will be rare to find

Because there are ones that have removed the bumper previously and the burnout gets so hot from exhaust heat (nearly all of them don't have full exhausts that exit the rear) that it warps the sheetmetal behind it anyway.
