A brilliant video I left calne in 2009 at 18 for Australia never looked back but these last few years my heart has been aching for the little town and I hope to come back and visit. It makes me sad to see the white hart in the state that it is . :( calne will always have a place in my heart. Thankyou for your video it has brought me some joy tonight

Many thanks Pete, really informative and well edited. Calne certainly isnt short of hairdressers / barbers :-)

It’ll always be Trotmans! The shop next to Calne Appliances in Church Steeet used to be Modelmaniacs, run by a lovely old couple who’s name I forget Spent many an afternoon in their spending my pocket money I think their son took it over and it’s on Porte Marsh estate, lost all its soul and old world charm in the process

Really interesting Pete. It's sad to see so many of the pubs shut down. I think you remember by dad (sadly gone now) Roger Sayer from your RAF days. Thanks for the trip down memory lane.

Thanks for the kind comments, Robin. I didn't actually do the filming on this one but just the editing and voice over etc. I certainly remember your dad's name although I can't put a face to it. Old age getting to me of course. Thanks again for putting you comments. Pete

Used to live near calne back in the day, so sad to see lot of pubs shut, been in a few of them! What happened to the white horse pub by the pig statue?

Thanks Pete. I’ve starter to acquire some Harris artefacts from eBay now as many don’t realise how influential it was, and not just to the town but the country. I’m not originally from Calne, like many I’m ex Forces that have settled here. I do hope some more niche businesses come to Calne as much has went.
