It's easy for fans of the Genesis to think "why is some genesis music so bad whenthe machine could do stuff like SoR2?". Then you see the deconstruction and realise you had to be a genius to get the best out of it.
@snatcherofpeachs2 жыл бұрын
Yeah seriously. I think I remember learning that there were some dev tools with pre-made instruments that ended up becoming pretty popular. A lot of developers ended up opting to use them instead of really learning to work with the chip but they all sounded pretty bland at best downright ugly at worst.

Blame the infamous GEMS sound driver that was supposed to help make it easier to compose music for the Mega Drive but it just made developers lazy and they chose to stick with the crappy FM patches presets thus giving the Mega Drive a bad name for sound.

@RWL20123 жыл бұрын
correct, the Mega Drive/Genesis PSG is the Master System variant which is mono. Only the Game Gear has the second speaker output register on its PSG. Only the YM2612 is stereo. Maybe the uploader couldn't find a way to make the FM and DAC views stereo but the PSG views mono.
