His name is Ash, if u want to play as Ash, after fight press and hold A on the both joysticks, before next level start(hero will use A button in the beginning) after that release and die. Ash will be avaliable to choose in the continue screen. If u want to play shiva(second boss) just kill him and do the same. If u want to play cangoroo, u should kill his clown, don't damage the animal.Than the same. This game is too old, i was 10 when i found her in my life.

A mixed bag in 3 I think. Some levels had huge sprites (buildings/stores) and then you have the digger chasing you which is another good stage along with the level with the backwards Shinobi music... yea there are a few bad apples - I think it was rushed as some promised features were left out. Overall though it’s still the best scrolling beat em up series.

In SOR3 on normal difficulty I was able to reach the 5th boss twice without even a single hit by any enemy, but he ultimately would hit me at least once. I played with Axel 99% of the time on a Japanese multi-system (PAL/NTSC) SEGA Mega drive 2 with the 6-button controller. For me, the only boss I can't flawlessly defeat (with no damage taken) with Axel is Jet. He or some of his flying guards will always hit me at least once. However, Jet is very easy to defeat with Zan's standing jump attack (not the offensive one which is very vulnerable since it has a low priority).

To the people who say SOR3 was difficult for you. This is not because it's a hard game (SOR and SOR2 are definitely more hard than SOR3!). You simply used to play SOR3 with the old 3-button controller that will not allow you to use the special attacks available with the 6-button version. I was able to reach the 5th boss on SOR3 without taking a hit by enemies prior to him, and most times I beat the game without losing a life. In very rare occasions I died just once on the 6th boss, Jet. I have never had a single time beating 2 or 3 levels of SOR and SOR2 with no single damage taken. In fact, it's very likely that players will die multiple times in the late levels of SOR and SOR2, especially at the last boss fights. SOR3 is a very optimized game gameplay-wise, despite all the hate it receives for its music and disappearing sound effects due to the calculations that burden the CPU. For me, personally, SOR3 is the better game of the trilogy.

The problem with the disappearing sounds is a limitation of the YM2612 sound chip and sound drivers written at the time. The YM2612 has six FM channels, with the sixth FM channel being special in that a status register can be set so it can play PCM samples. Later more complex games like SOR3 made more use of PCM sound samples, which include things like certain SFX, voices, drums and white noise. Now since there is only one PCM channel, only one of these sounds can play at a time without writing a more complex sound driver on the Z80 that can mix multiple PCM samples to play at the same time. The homebrew community has made such a driver, but nothing like that existed back in the early 90s when Genesis games were still being made. The missing effects in SOR3 stems from this problem. When more than one PCM sample was requested to play at near the same time, the newest sample would interrupt the older playing sample, so if the BGM was using PCM, that part of it would go away. Or if a character was talking and a PCM based SFX played, the characters voice would go away until the SFX finished and the former PCM samples would come back. This wasn't just a problem with SOR3, SOR2 also had the problem as did many other games. Some game developers tried to work around this problem by limiting PCM use to one use case so multiple game effects weren't trying to fight each other for the PCM channel like happens in the SOR series.

Dominic Brennan, I have both, BKIII (JPN) and SOR3 (UK) cartridges. In fact, I used to play SOR3 a lot more than BKIII, since I own the UK version since its release date! I bought BKIII several years later. As I mentioned in my first post, SOR3 is nowhere as difficult as SOR and SOR2, and it's even easier if you play it with the 6-button controller that brings the 1-, 2- and 3-star blitz attacks right from the start that are otherwise only available at later stages through collecting a certain amount of points without dying.

The games you listed almost exclusively use FM based sound effects, of course they're not going to have issues with sound. You're trying to compare apples to oranges. SOR3 primarily uses PCM based sound effects and only has one PCM channel to work with. SOR2 HAD THE SAME ISSUE WITH SOUND LOSS. If you don't believe me, get into a complex situation with lots of enemy voices playing and swing a pipe or knife, parts of the BGM will go away.

Not bad for the average difficulty setting. Definitely died and took damage through the game stages as the amount of lives went down..but the title says "bosses" so, it serves its purpose. Blazes jump kick is that of legends with her priority ,hit box and range lol btw though, her neutral jump kick is far more effective and damaging to spam against the final robotic boss. On the extreme hard difficulty, him having much higher hp, and time being shorter, the method you used would not kill in time, even if you were never hit. Just fyi. In the end, nice video to show a basic strategy on how to deal with the bosses. Thumbs up
