An unrecoverable error has occurred and Streets of SimCity must quit.

Thanks for putting these in one compilation. I still remember a lot of these. 👍🏻

One of the greatest games, ever. I wish they would re-master or reboot this, SIMCOPTER and SC2000 so we could drive and fly in our cities again. That would be the proper way to reboot the franchise and get back to the top. It's amazing we were able to do such things on very old computers and it's a shame we have no games like that now. Maxis, Maxis, Maxis...: deep sigh : You HAD it all.
@AndrewBlechinger8 ай бұрын
You don't want them to do that and here's why. During development, Maxis was bought out by EA.

That final cutscene is weird and incomprehensible. I don't think it had any place in the final game.

I really like how it slapped the words "To be continued" at the end like the creators thought this rushed buggy trash game would be popular enough to get a sequel well dream on Maxis now that EA owns you it will never happen.
@Ashes10322 жыл бұрын
@@grantarmstrong9648 The cutscene itself seems unfinished. It looks like they went with the theme of alien invasion, but the overall stories of the different Streets characters were never connected and only Granny's story has aliens in it. Compare it to the first cutscene, the one that plays at the opening of the game, and you can tell where they put the polish. That's the only one that looks good. A sequel was never going to happen, but it seems the overarching story wasn't in the cards, either.

Can you explain where that cutscene was supposed to happen? I never even know about that cutscene.

@@MikeAW2010 It probably happens after you beat all of the in-game missions, but I don't know for sure.

****This is part 1 of 3 of my comment**** For the final cutscene, its playback in the game actually happens right after you have successfully completed the scenario "Forever War". Until I have found this cutscene on KZbin, I have just watched this cutscene only twice in my lifetime, meaning that I have only completed the scenario "Forever War" twice. I remember that, back in the years from 2000 to 2002, I had been trying many times to complete the scenario "Forever War", but I was always kicked out of the game before I could finish the scenario, due to the error message of "An unrecoverable error has occurred and Streets of SimCity must quit." (on average, I was able to make it to around level 5 of the scenario before the error would occur, which would kick me out of the game). By the first half of 2001, I started to try to avoid this error message by minimizing the graphics that the game has to display while I was playing this scenario. I set the graphics settings in the game to the lowest quality possible, then set the fog as near as possible. I also used the first person camera view, and disabled the displaying of the rear-view mirror, and that of the steering wheel and dashboard. I also deactivated all sounds and music in the settings of the game. It did in fact improve the reliability of the game, but not enough for me to complete the scenario (with these settings, I could, on average, make it to around level 7 or 8 before the error would occur). Then, in the first half of 2002, I got a new idea of further minimizing the graphics that the game has to display while I was playing this scenario: by removing unnecessary buildings and other elements of the city used by the "Forever War" scenario, using the software "SimCity 2000 Urban Renewal Kit" which is bundled with the game. In fact, instead of editing the existing file of the city used by the "Forever War" scenario, I started from a new blank city, then added only roads, train tracks, and gas stations. To make my gameplay easier, I added several gas stations, and created a road on the path which every single of the rogues (which is the highest paying enemy type, once it is destroyed) would take in the scenario, then along this road, I added a train track which constantly zig-zags the length of the road. ****Continued in part 2...****

Thanks for putting these into 1 video! I’m still wondering what’s actually going on in the cut scene, were there any planned game after Streets if SimCity? What’s the detail of the spaceship?

@@Terf1988 I'm not sure the game can even be beaten without modifying the "Forever War" city file, going by another comment here.

@@Terf1988 2 years later, and... I tried beating "Forever War" without modding it. Unsurprisingly, my game crashed 3 hours in. So I modded the city file and beat it that way, because I don't have the patience for this game that isn't working properly. I have the patience to grind through NES Games with a Power Glove, but I don't want to bother with this for some reason.
