Streetwear DENIM FASHION TRENDS 1990 - 2020 (Jnco, Evisu, Red Monkey, Amiri, FOG, Gallery Dept)
Decided to make this video about all the denim trends that happened through streetwear. Starting from the 90s talking about Jnco and then moving into the 2000s with the urban era. Then I float to speaking of the beginning of hypebeasts and brands like Evisu, Red Monkey, True Religion, The Osaka 5 + more
By the end of this video I try my best to give you the analysis of where we stand right now with current styles.
Appreciate ya'll and I'll see you in the next video!

2007-2009 was still the baggy pants era and yeah skinny jeans were starting to come up (around late 2008 maybe) but it wasn't well known or popular yet until 2010 and officially 2011 when people wore skinny jeans like it was the norm and baggy pants started dying out.

Been wearing skinny jeans since 2012 and I really don't wear jeans at all now. Been about two years. Seen a couple pairs of interest lately (Certain D-02, Undercover '85, A.P.C., Levi's 501) which I'm seeking, but yes, I've felt that people just want to do what they see on others *cough* Travis *cough*. My issue is that all these archive pages and celebrities whatnot are making it so hard to find the things which I truly want because they artificially inflate demand so much. Some examples (sorry if all aren't denim): AJ1s post Last Dance (ESP. 85s - Chicagos and Neutral Greys) Chrome Hearts *in general* Raf and Rick *in general* (ahhhh remember being able to find decent Ramones for less than $500?) Levi's 501s in these vintage shops and pages are bought for like $20 and then re-sold for $50+

Dude it's genuinely so sad that JNCO Jeans / Kikwear / etc. aren't nearly as popular now especially in the exaggerated sizes. they look so fucking great with so many different pieces. Also you kind of missed the part that they were labeled as "phat pants' back then as well by the OG shufflers who rocked the ones with some dope neon stuff on em. and those were by plenty of shuffle-niche brands. Also mad props for including those classic shuffler video clips.

really loved this video.. you knew exactly what you were talking about. crazy how i knew this whole timeline from the top of my head. i’ve been heavy on clothing since a kid. sad to say i’ve been apart of all these trends ( im 18) but that’s just how fashion is, it’s hard to explain, there’s people who are into fashion and there’s people who just follow trends. you can tell the difference if you really into it. the people i’m around can’t tell, kinda annoying when they say someone dresses like you, when in reality they don’t. you did forget to really mention track pants tho. i’m loving the direction fashion is in right now. it’s so good, especially the pants.

Also, a lot of styles are still happening. Not from slow adopters. But also designers still putting out a lot of skinny (John Elliott’s cast 2 or Levi’s 512) and slim (JE Kane or Levi’s 511 which is a huge seller). So while I appreciate this video I think in reality there is not ONE trend anymore but several all on different levels. Maybe within different age groups or countries though. Thanks anyways for your work 🙏

Gallery Dept taking thrifted levis and carhartts they probably found for $50 or so, then adding flares and charging $800 for them some crazy behavior. But people buy them, so I can't hate on their hustle. Good video, a lot of research and analysis was done. can happily say never had skinny jeans, but definitely straight and still keep some slim fitting pants as they go nicer when want bit more of a smarter outfit (going for event/dinners/ngihts out, and well slimmer shoes like CPs, GATs). ALso go well with boots.

Biker denim was cool for a second but compared to the look of slim/skinny jeans or even the wide leg look(also I haven’t bought a pair and I’m thankful I didn’t buy into the trend). It’s not for everyone and often times people preferred other denim and don’t forget any denim with embroidery that was either Gucci, balm son or even Amiri. Also another fire video man, I remembered when everyone wore khaki skinny pants allot

brands/styles that you didn't mention: - ksubi - true religion - zipper jeans (2016-2017-ish) - had a big crossover with biker jeans/fog style ripped jeans - the 2016-2017ish sweatpant/jeans frankenstein's monster abominations (drawstring jeans, ribbed cuffs jeans) - paint splatter jeans (2018-ish to now) - kinda crosses over into the current diy trend - chromehearts jeans - real hot rn, again crosses over into the current baggy/grunge look

I'm guilty of having a pair of mnml jeans (back when they were first coming on the scene a few years ago, probably 2016 or 2017) with the side stripe AND the zippers ... 🤕

Man I've been wearing slim fit and skinny jeans since 2007. I always used to take me pants to get tailored and slimed down, then go home and distress them and blow the knees out. Today the only thing that's changed is I can buy them slim and I don't wear them distressed anymore. I've never been comfortable in baggy clothes my whole life even in the baggy denim oversized shirt era of the 2000s, I never wore those

Owned a pair of every style in this video. I was the fly dope boy and had to STAY FLY. Never ashamed of the fits I used to wear, it was just the style of the era. The only thing that kills me is the price for high end denim now, I remember paying 1200 for balmains and going sheesh times have changed.
