When we consider the downward force on the element,why don't we consider its own weight too?We just considered the weight of the part below it.

gamma is material property .....rod large ho ya small ....area kam ho ya jyada ....gamma to gamma hi rhega ....sbhi ke liye constant ....

Sir..in self weight deformation, if I takeout the support from upper end and place a support to the lower end of the column what will be the change in the formula!? Will it be the same??

in that case, there will be a reaction at the support which would be equal to the weight of the body

@@saideepkomuravelli162 yes bro..there will be a compression...but that would be in a molecular level...we can neglect it.... For egs , if u can imagine concrete pillars without any load on them..

if in the element the 2 forces are different then the element will nit be in the static equilibrium ,what about it sir ? and for gamma the area term is included hence the self weight deformation will depend on the weight where should we apply the force due to the self weight?

Sir If this elongation due to self weight does not change wrt area so why the elongation of conical bar is 1/3 of that for the prismatic bar ? Can somebody please explain

At 10.04 min in this video you are saying that total deformation of prismatic bar does not depends on area but the formula for total deformation includes the term weight density which is weight divided by volume and weight density will change with change in area. So how is total deformation not dependent on area.???? I think that it is indirectly dependent on area due to to term weight density.

Weight density is equal to density *g Density doesn't depend upon area. It can be considered uniform through out the bar

As the section is infinitesimally small, change in area over this section is very very small, that is why we can take A +dA as A. I'm not sure about it, but I think it is so.
