Scoens ~ Yeah, i hope that the people reading this will understand that my recollections are a bit vague as i never expected to write my history of the First band that spoke about the Truth & the things that were important to the young people at that time. Many people who support the W.P scene today maybe completely unaware of what the period from 1980 to 1984 was actually like. So I’ll do my best to explain. The Band first formed in 1979 & our Original name was called = “WHITE YOUTH” The name only lasted for one gig & then the venues closed their doors to us. We recruited a new bass player & guitarist & decided to find the most none offensive name we could. Thus the Ovaltinees were born. (Editors note Ovaltine is a Hot milk drink that became popular during the Second World War) it was promoted by young White children and we booked gigs at local venues & because we already had a Lot of support we had no problems finding venues. We were friendly with the mainstream Oi! Bands “Splodge” & The “Toy Dolls” & played with them on various occasions . This may seem unbelievable now but you must understand that at that time there was no organised opposition to us & clubs were prepared to accommodate us. Especially when we brought over 500 thirsty Skinheads to every gig. We were regularly performing twice a week in London venues like the 100 Club & Skunx (Skinhead & Punk) That was between 1980 & 1982 when we had interest from the music papers such as Melody Maker, N.M.E & Sounds. This chapter Of Oi! Music is a Side that the mainstream media doesn’t want you to know anything about. it is what it is, and it’s a remarkable story that people know very little about. Our Story is well documented in the fascinating book called “The White Nationalist Skinhead Movement U.K & U.S.A 1979 - 1993” Robert Forbes & Eddie Stampton authoritatively Speak of the Movement obtaining firsthand material from members of the scene. it’s Like the Yellow Pages of the Skinhead Movement & a must for everyone who was involved in the scene.

Anton Graf von Arco auf Valley Think of it this way. If you told a lesbian you were a woman (and she were into you), she would say "pity you're straight". Same thing here. I do not agree with their ideas/lyrics, but I do like the musical arrangement and notes. So, yeah -- pity about the fascist stuff.

I've owned this album since it came out there is not one fascist or racist line in the whole album later some of these group did expres some fairly unpleasant opinions but not here and not at this point in the history of oi

also worth noting that the LP was backed by "sounds" magazine who wouldn't have had anything to do with fascism or racism and i'm 99% sure the back cover shows some crowd scenes which include at least one black lad. This album came out at the exact point that the NF and BNP were actively recruiting from football and the skinhead movement. This album is the perfect expression of an oppressed class, perfect breeding ground for fermenting hate against "the other". Oi raised its head briefly in the mainstream and "sounds" magazine were the only part of the music press to take it seriously. Within a year or so of the LP coming out ('86), skinhead had become something very different, Sounds magazine disappeared (not least because it had "backed the wrong horse" and their support of Oi had become an embarrassment. Many skins did proudly hang onto their roots (in 2000, I went ti ska night in Battersea, the DJ's were two white postmen called the terrible twins and there was one perfectly dressed skinhead in the crowd and the other couple of hundred punters were Jamaicans (damn good night was had by all) Racism and violence was the only thing that made sham 69 retire. Skinhead become a Gay look for a long while in the early nighties (read comments further down about Nicky Crane the lad on the cover) , which I think to most moderate skinheads made the look a bit less cool ;-), rave happened and the nastier element in Oi (86 onwards) disappeared back under their stones.
