"It's easier to see what you are when you see what you're not." Holy moly - so powerful! You can extrapolate this across all personality typologies. Self-awareness is so key, and when that eventually leads to others-awareness, it's a compounding and beautiful effect. Wow, just wow... Love that quote so much :)

Interesting -- I have been gathering data on the internet on INTJs and for the most part [80 percent] INTJ's five are usually found in Strategic Thinking. I am guessing at this point Strategic Thinking = NT; Relationship Building - NF; Executing = SJ; and Influencing = E. That is a first cut. The problem I see with Strengths is that they fail to give the test taker your five least used. Oh, I am also an INTJ -- my five were Achiever, Learner, Strategic, Ideation and Intellection

I'm ENFP and also not have executing strenght in my top 5🙃. My top 5 though is : 1. Activator 2. Connectivness 3. Empathy 4. Strategic 5. Relator.. so as ENFPs we share 2 talents and 3 of 4 domains 😁. I don't have woo but believe that activator is a little bit similar, I'm also so excited about new things and also about encouraging others to do some things, so also realised that I can use it and just find people who will be willing to manage that "consistency" just convincing them using my empathy, activator and relator. I was so curios if someone already did this comperision and I'm glad I found you! Best regards for you both from Poland! ❤️

@Caitlin Hawekotte - MBTI and Strengths Coach Hey Caitlin, dont know if you'll see this but uhm my top strengths were: 1) learner 2) intellection 3) futuristic 4) focus 5) deliberate Basically I got the most worthless talents of all 34 so what do to do with a shitty deck of cards (talents) and any tips on how to make them work? Gotten INTJ repeatedly when doing the MBTI test but doesn't seem to match my talents? A more concrete example is that I saw someone who also had my top two strengths who worked as some sort of administrator at a university and within a library setting but that seems boring as hell to me. Doesn't need to be about a suitable career but just thought to mention it. If you read this I'd be thankful for any sort of reply.

@Caitlin Hawekotte - MBTI and Strengths Coach Thank you Caitlin for the thoughtful reply, I honestly did not expect it and had forgotten about this comment but im not interested in a coaching session right now so read on if you like. I agree with you that it's a more sensible approach to apply your talents where they may be best put to use in a field of work that has some sort of personal appeal and I didn't actually view it that way but for the sake of being brief I explained it like that. :) As you put it: "Look at the things you feel drawn to/curious about/might love to do and then look at how your talents can serve you in those kinds of roles, as well as how they can help you pursue those roles in the first place." I am drawn to understanding how complex information systems interact with the social structure we're all apart of on a global scale so my talents and interests seem to be skewed toward some serious intellectual work. You're right about me being excited about what the future may hold since I am interested to the extent that it's possible, predicting future outcomes with elegant maps and models of reality. The rise and fall of civilization may serve as a more concrete example of what I am writing. Even though I am inclined toward more intellectual type of work I will end by saying that I think the takeaway here is to make your talents work for you and not the other way around. My talents will make me gravitate toward certain fields while others not so much and the good thing is that I have learned how to be more proactive and not getting stuck in the early thinking process as much anymore. :)

@Caitlin Hawekotte - MBTI and Strengths Coach What do you mean by my best-fit type? If you're talking about MBTI then I have considered all the introverted NJ and NP types atleast a few times and learned more about them but I can really relate to the same sort of fears and worries when I read or hear others of the INTJ type share their experience. I have considered INTP but nah seriously doubt it. I first discovered MBTI and then learned about StrengthsFinder and I even have the book but not a lot of new information there which I couldn't gather from watching the Gallup StrengthsFinder theme sessions here on the tubes. I also learned a bit about other psychometric tests but I see the correlation between them since they basically repeat what I already know.

@Caitlin Hawekotte - MBTI and Strengths Coach By zeh way , doubt you'll see this but... is there any large benefit to gaining access to all of your top 34 strengths and not just the 5? It costs alot but im curious to find out which once are my top 10 atleast. I have the Clifton Strengthsfinder 2.0 book could I figure it out you think on my own lol?

I think that the two of you should team up and write an article that correlates all 34 Strengths to each Jungian/MBTI/OP parameter. You both would have a blast doing this and it would be a MAJOR service to the personality typology community!

As an INFJ, I seem to (appropriately 😃) fall heavily into the Relationship Building & Strategic Thinking categories. (& 'Context' also reminded me very much of Si).

@Joyce Meng I was trying to rub away the dirt from my screen when I realized it was just the shiny door knob to the room you were in haha. Anyway, my top strengths were if I remember them correctly 1) Learner 2) Intellection 3) Futuristic 4) Focus 5) Deliberation. Super boring strengths, especially learner. Wow, you like the process of learning and regularly so basically very curious about a lot of things. *Yawn* .... Maybe your top 5 can change but they claim they do not. INTJ in the MBTI while probably being a jumper in the Objective ching chang that Dave and Shannon are building upon.

Ha yes, the shiny doorknob. That's funny. :) For some people, I think it's possible for their Clifton Strengths to shift a bit as they age. Learner sounds a lot like the consume animal in Objective Personality.

@@JoyceMeng22 yeah, I think so too just from the fact that we humans can change our thought patterns by making different choices and so does our behaviour in turn - but it means we also gradually change out perception. Anyway, I don't put much stock into the strengthsfinder but would like to see more either about it or can you recommend a video about the animals? (I never got that far with the objective personality just because it seems like a convoluted rabbit hole you never get out of). 😄

Interesting video. You are definitely not boring. I love your metaphors with kites and stones. Making the complex simple. I guess a lot of us value the skills of others, but forget own unique gifts. Great job!

I appreciate that! Yes, many of us forget our own strengths and the ways we shine to others. They say, "you can't see the label from within the jar." Which signifies how we don't always see our own contributions, while others can. Thank you for watching again, Ma! :)
