Namaste Alok da, I have a question regarding my own experiences. Recently (for about 4 months) I have been having same types of thoughts which won't go away no matter how much I try. Usually, they have to do with materialism, doubt, struggling to keep faith etc.. No matter how much I argue against these thoughts, they simply won't go away. I have also developed stress because of this which is causing trouble sleeping and focusing on my studies. I have also read the materialists denial from the life divine, and listened to your lecture, but the thoughts still won't go away. I would really appreciate any form of help.

Such repetitive thoughts with doubts and material things are generally due to the physical mind getting overactive. One of the ways to quieten this mind is either to be a witness and observe the thoughts without getting actively involved in them. Second method is to give an object to this mind to focus on, a mantra for example. Mantra helps additionally to quieten the mind and the cells itself. Besides these, it is important to stay busy, play some games and try to bring peace into the mind.

Namaste Alok Da, Regarding the work aspect you covered, I wanted to ask that what if we do not know what kind of work gives us real happiness. What is it that we can do even if we get nothing in return. Can you please help find out this kind of work which gives real happiness?

To know the kind of work that would give us happiness one has to do a little bit of self-study or rather study oneself. One has to see what interested us always even as a child before the virus of ambition entered. It is by carefully studying one's tendencies, temperament and areas of interest that one can discover the work (which is not synonymous with a job or vocation) that is most satisfying to our deepest needs. One can try out some activities as well and see. It is a path of self discovery that one has to take.
