You guys are getting so professional with your film making now. Some of those transitions were spectacular! That fast pan at the beginning was awesome! Amazing that you had all your rode out - how much was that? Great to see Amy actually doing some work for once instead of just lazing around looking gorgeous! Haha, just kidding - about the lazing around, not the looking gorgeous. I'll stop now before I dig myself in deeper! lol.

Thanks, We have 60m of 10mm chain and 20m of rope. That has been enough but only just in Indonesia. Before Indonesia we didn't bother with the 20m of rope on the end! Put down your spade...! ;-)

@@SailingYachtFlorence actually, I was interested in the windlass arrangement on Florence. Is that standard on the OH37? Moon Shadow has a similar chain locker but I have a manual windlass mounted on the deck just aft of it. I want to get an electric windlass but I've been scratching my head about where to mount it.

From the freezing cold in the Netherlands, thanks again for sharing. Cinema already has found the means to add physical elements to the experience.... We will just have to wait until heat and sweat comes with KZbin 😉😓. But even be without, your story does bring back warm (and hot) memories! Can't wait for the next video. I really appreciate all the effort you put in.

4:40: Having lived in SE Asia for many years, the lights are mainly used to attract squid...not "fish into their nets". To quote Nat Geo: "The offshore illumination comes from fishing , which use enormous arrays of bright LED lights to attract the plankton to the surface. The squid follow their prey toward the surface, where they are easier for fishermen to catch with jigging lines."
@MarcAubry3 жыл бұрын
Those boats attract small fusilier fish named localy ikan tri (anchovi like) the same kind of boat is used further up north in thailand to attract squids.

First of all love your videos! I do have one request/suggestion. Please don't spin your maps (see 1:54 mark). It is very disconcerting and hard to follow. Otherwise, your vids are great! Fair Winds and Following Seas!
@micheldawes13 жыл бұрын
@10:30; Hey guys! Just watching Amy kiss the transom highlights how fantastic the topsides are! How long is it since they were painted (And what sort of paint did you use?) Also, please investigate Silicone antifoul! I have some first hand recommendations from cruising yachties who swear by it! (Initially very expensive, but very low maintenance and incredible durability! UP TO 4 years between applications is not unusualness!!!)
@SailingYachtFlorence3 жыл бұрын
Hi Michel, Florence is still the original gelcoat from 1985 when she was built! For our next antifoul it will be what ever we can get in either La Reunion or The Seychelles, as one of those places will be the next stop for us where we can haul out and we desperately need antifouling!

Thanks for all your inspiring videos. Not merely commercial "youtube sailing show" clones, we'll send you a little donation. We're all struggling here in the US. Sadly, when the US goes down we ALL goes down (and this is coming). Perhaps having spent SO much time living out there on little, you will be more prepared to live disconnected. I guess we'll all find that out. We're preparing to leave on our own trans-Pacific cruise, and our boat is being readied. We are learning for ourself the WORK side of Cruising. Perhaps we'll run into you two someday? We're the Arcanum, a Caliber 40 LRC. You two are an inspiration. Keep it up! (Cathy and Dorian)
