This simultaneously melted and broke my heart. Fluttershy now being the one supporting RD is something odd, but it works since it's about FEAR, and who else knows fear better than Fluttershy. Rainbow's inability to realize she must allow herself to fear mundane things is kinda sad. She's so into this magic world that she forgot she's only a high school girl at the end of the day.
@windshieldlaugh56182 жыл бұрын
It may be a small detail, but I love how Rainbow says "believe me", just like Fluttershy did before. And also her look in response. It sort of gives the feeling they were truly hearing each other

I can't help but to love the simple structure of the scene: 1st act - Establishes status quo of the usual dynamic of RD and Fluttershy. Inciting incident - Rainbow accidentally brings up the rollercoaster 2nd act part I - Rainbow tries to cover up her fear, only to make things worse, leading to her confessing Midpoint - Fluttershy realizes RD's problem and shifts their dynamic, now being her the one supporting RD 2nd act part II - Fluttershy's motivational monologue Climax - RD realizes she must allow herself to fear simple things. Fluttershy is reassured she's a good friend Resolution - Stress salad is no longer needed, because the problem has been solved A masterful example of a scene!

Its a law in the equestria girls universe that when someone brings up demon sunset "no offense" needs to be said quickly afterwards. Regardless if Sunset is even there.

This really paints a more human side to Equestria Girls. It seems like it adopts this idea of magic affecting a normal world and how the people react to it, something FiM doesn't have to deal with. It sort of gives EG its own identity.

"I- I mean demon Sunset!" That's so Rainbow Dash, I love it!
@snoopingaSUSualiseee2 жыл бұрын
What I love about these new scenes is that they don't bend the story, but rather take elements of it and enhance them. It carries over Rainbow's fear and gives it a justification, then uses Fluttershy, who is sort of her foil in this area, all the while taking place in the story as if it was a deleted scene. Heck, even Fluttershy has some sort of depth when she says she's getting the hang of it, something that Rainbow reassures her by repeating "believe me"! Then there are the simple models that change little expressions in order to convey emotion without words, adding to the immersion and quality of what's essentially a scene and not a written chapter There is this believable humanity to them with fear, insecurities and self love that really makes them more compelling

There is something so genuine about the dialogue that never fails to capture the essence of the characters. Little stutters or choice of words. But above all else is the understanding of the characters. What they feel, believe, fear and how they interact with each other. I mean a scene so precise, packed with jokes and emotional moments while still being faithful to the ip is hard to achieve and requires a certain mastery of the story and its characters. Hats off to you

This is great. I’ve always loved Rainbow and Fluttershys dynamic. It maybe cliche but nothings new under the Sun. For years Rainbow has always been protecting Fluttershy from physical threats and now Flutters is returning the favor by easing Rainbows mental burden. I think it’s really sweet, especially in your rewriting where Rainbow actually feels like she has a responsibility to protect the masses because of the power she wields. Of course Rainbows best friend would be there for her when she’s feeling insecure about herself when Fluttershy knows what it’s like to feel insecure. Can’t wait to see what your rewrite next homie.

I'm all in for this revamped Rainbow! Between this scene and the argument in Spring Breakdown, this version of dash has really grown on me. There's a tragic subtext to her that ties back to the magic Sunset brought that makes it feel important in the bigger picture. Finally human rainbow dash feels like an actual character who resembles the one from the show, but still unique in the EG setting because of this

How do you write like this? I genuinely want to learn
@AlexMLP Жыл бұрын
Well, I'm not the one to teach since I'm still learning, but I'll try! For me personally, I've developed some kind of procedure when writing. First off I think about different points I wanna touch: - How do I add to the overall story - How can I further develop characters and their dynamics Getting these points down are very helpful to not go off the rails later down the road. Make a general outline of the scene and map out everything to help you write much faster. I won't get into the structure of it all, but you should try to keep things interesting. You got limited time in the visual media, so use it wisely. I usually go over what I just wrote and think if it fits or if it's unnecessary. Having chunks of lines that add nothing of value and will eventually cost you the momentum you've built. Go over stuff regularly and think if they fit the criteria of the first points. Good scenes are interesting because nothing is stale. Play with shifts of power and tones, in the end, things cannot be like they used to. And if they are, you might as well just not have written anything in the first place. It doesn't have to be huge revelations, but maybe tiny bits of information that can later on grow and have bigger meaning. As for the dialogue itself, think of it as information being delivered with a coating. You want the essential information to be said, but in line with the characters and how they would express it. Sometimes you don't even need lines, but reaction shots. The core of it all lies in the subtext. It's not about what they say, but the meaning behind the words. Getting subtext right often makes it easier to write believable dialogue, instead of sounding like something made by an AI. The dialogue is a fine line between the writer and the story and more often than not can make or break a scene. You should know what you want to say and then filter it through the characters. I wouldn't say this is 100% the way to write, but this is the style and mentality I've developed. I hope it helps you, though!
