In my instructions / manual for my Samsung Washing Machine: "Samsung washing machine detects the weight of the laundry automatically. For a more accurate weight detection, it is recommended running Calibration Mode immediately after installing the washing machine. Before running Calibration Mode, make sure that there is nothing in the drum or on top of the washing machine". Hope this helps! Furthermore; I also run this if my Samsung get extremely unbalanced during spin too frequently. Calibration Mode kinda solves this.
