My first trip to Boracay was in 1990. Can you just imagine from Kalibo all the way to Malay, Aklan then Boracay. It was cottage for rent at that time.

I’ve been traveling regularly to the Philippines since 2017, and at the beginning I wanted to visit Boracay, but had the chance to discover many beautiful and quiet islands, Bohol being one of my favorites (not Panglao). Il visit Boracay one day but I still have another 7k islands to explore first 😂. Good to see you back in the Philippines.

Hey Jonathan! I recently stumbled into some of your vlogs. I would like to express my admiration and appreciation for what you are doing - immersing yourself into the Filipino culture, trying out our food (even the "strange" ones), and developing relationship with my fellow Filipinos. I am originally from Siargao island, but grew up in Metro Manila, and worked and lived in Cebu. I also lived in the UK for many years. Currently, I am based in Singapore. Kudos to you, matey! May your tribe increase! 🙂🙏💚

Wow I’m excited for this vlog going around Boracay. I’ve been to Boracay years ago, when a friend of a friend had a local friend who gave us a tour of Boracay where most tourists do not go, kind of a secret place, only locals know the place. Since Boracay was fixed because too many tourists were coming in, it became a little expensive. But that’s good for the locals to earn some good money. But still you can find some places where you can buy good food but not expensive. 😊👏

The entry to the ferry in going from window to window to window is a nightmare when busy. They need to have 1 person do all the 3 things lol. Oh and if ur going to the island you MUST have a place pre booked at least 1night or u can’t get across. (Prob also is the reception at the ticket area is BAD and u need walk down at to get signal to then book some place, even just 1 nights ok. But amazing clear water and was awesome to walk out onto the main beach, especially in low season. Boracay beaches are far more stunning than Panglao. Head to station 2 if you prefer bit more night life and Exit Bars a fav😊. That’s very nice hotel Hennan$$.

1st floor/2nd floor issue... America is a young country. When floors were common on the '1st floor'. European countries are a lot older. So there was no 'floor' on the '1st floor'. Just a hard packed dirt or clay, perhaps some stone in there. So their 1st floor is the level above the literal 'ground floor'. Curious if other countries also do not have a 13th floor like is common in America. The bad luck of the 13th actually started in France when the King attacked the Templars on a 13th (it was a Friday).

I live on that island. The name of the island is Panay, the province is called Aklan. When they told you 300 php for the environmental, it shocked me to my core. It used to be 75 each for the terminal and environmental fees(2019, before COVID). They're really fleecing tourists more & more. It's so sad.
@joseph11503 сағат бұрын
I wouldn't be surprised if they had 2 different amounts for citizens and tourists. They could charge 150 USD (8800 PHP) for the whole process at Boracay and most western tourists wouldn't flinch. If the PH wants to manage their best but most sensitive areas they need to charge a LOT more to keep the numbers down. There needs to be different prices for citizens and foreigners. And this is coming from the opinion of a foreigner. I would gladly pay 20USD or more to not deal with standing in 5 lines to just do the simple act of getting on a cheap boat to the place I want to go. When I visited a less visited but still spectacular beach in Mindanao, the environmental fee was 20PHP per head, which was to me such a laughably small amount that I still don't understand the economics of having 4 people in a checkpoint booth taking the money.

The large influx of local and foreign tourists to Boracay via several cramped transportation naturally leads to stress. Discovering that the destination is overcrowded, noisy, costly, and has beaches contaminated with algae only exacerbates this sentiment. For me, it's a once-is-enough spot, even though many tourists seem to have a penchant for the chaotic and enjoy loudly voicing their complaints.
@Sharmac775 сағат бұрын
Station 0 is much better. I recommend fairways and bluewaters for a stay. Its a beautiful large resort with a golf course multiple swimming pools, , private beach a mall directly outside and travel to station 2 is only 150php each way. Its the best of both worlds….the tranquility you desire but also the opportunity to see the tourist side of the island if you wish.

'Yea, great infrastructure here' the road is paved and a sidewalk. Is that all it takes for great infrastructure? I'm seriously asking. Is a paved road with a sidewalk uncommon in Philippine towns? I see the mess of electrical distribution, but that is mostly just because they do not all tie into a single line and step down voltage like we do. I just assumed the paved road thing. So is sewage systems, or garbage removal uncommon? You can't have a village all using septic tanks and leechfields. Perhaps you could do a video about infrastructure issues, or non-issues in towns that are considered normal over there? You would have at least 1 view (me). But I would be very interested in learning about the actual conditions there. Travel books all paint a picture of perfection. Regardless of country, or economic level, every book says ___ country is perfect.
