I am Ken Abroad, a full-time traveler traveling southeast Asia. It is my goal here on the channel to visit every country in southeast Asia and bring you along the journey.
You won’t see many tourist places in my videos, I rather like to show the “real” sides of each country in my videos. Where do the local people go to eat? Where do they hang out? How do the locals travel through the country? Stuff like that.

Great to see this video! I used to live in HK years ago. Before the pandemic, I would stop over there every year on the way to Malaysia. I miss visiting the city, but unfortunately there are so few flights via HK now and what is available is ridiculously expensive.

Your reactions in HK are hilarious. You are a friendly guy, and it draws a lot of positive reactions. Good for you. I, too, always have problems crossing the other side of the road in HK because I'm always met with fences. By the way, my sister is married to a German. Enjoy your visit in HK.

An experienced traveller like you will not face any/much problems in a new country. Thanks for sharing the smooth flight, the wonderful subway ride and your hotel room. Never know that corner hotel room is one of the best...away from the noises, good tip, Ken. Yeah, you will be hearing lots of Cantonese and eating lots of Cantonese food there. Wow, those char siew which come in lean and fatty parts, look very juicy indeed. That plate of choy sam ( veggies ) is yum yum too. Lots of oil and garlics are used, that's why you can see the veggies look shiny. Great that you have a yummilicious dinner. Another interesting video with amazing content. "Doh Jeh" Ken. Sometimes "Mm Goy" can also be used ( Both mean thanks ) Can't wait for your next Hong Kong adventures.

Just stumbled across your channel, and I must say you are such a positive and nice tourist. A lot of Western tourists have no desire to learn the local language and some do not respect the local customs, in this case wearing the face masks but you are perfectly accepting and understanding of this, bravo!

Great that you are in Hong Kong. It is a city I have visited frequently for the past 10 years and love the food and transport system immensely. Transport by busses and MRT is cheap compared to the western world. Taxis are a little dearer but still affordable and convenient. Food is great and most convenient. I would recommend you try a few other places which offer cheap delicious food for the common Hong Kongers such as Cafe De Coral, Maxim and Fairwood. These are food chains but serving authentic local cuisine also sometimes with a bit of fusion of South East Asia and Japan in some dishes. The menu changes every now and then and they are located everywhere. Just google these food chains. Don't leave Hong Kong till you try the milk tea, a much localised version of the English tea, probably alike the tea-tarik in Malaysia with a twist. Do enjoy your stay there. I shall follow your every video on Hong Kong most attentively.

Stumbled across your video. As soon as you pointed out you needed to go to Tai Wo Hau station I guessed you would be staying at the Dorsett. I stayed there twice prior to Covid and prices were much cheaper than hotels in the city. Also you might have gathered by now that as soon as you exit Tai Wo Hai MTR station you should cross the footbridge to the other side then walk to the hotel. When I was watching your video I was shouting use the footbridge behind you 😂

Hi Ken~ very nice heard that you like the Cha Siu very much~ In Cantonese the term of "Cha" means the fork, and the term of "Siu" means BBQ or Burn~ combined the 2 words together this means you put a pork or some kinds of meat through the fork and put it on the fire to toasted~

Hi Ken, enjoy your stay in Hong Kong. I've just got back from HK a week ago after a 5 day foodie trail. Buy an Octopus card from the MTR station for your public transportation purpose. Roast goose is popular in HK, I recommend Kam's Roast Goose in Wanchai but be there early before 7 pm if you want to dine in. Dim sum, wanton noodle, beef noodle, many kinds of tong sui (sweet broth), pastries eg. egg tart are some of HK famous food. Of course there are many more yummy food. HK is indeed a food paradise but rather expensive.

I hope you get to explore more of Vietnam soon but I'm excited to watch your travels in Hong Kong too. My arrival was quite late in the evening via bus to Nathan Road at Tsim Sha Tsui where my hotel was located and there were 10s of people all trying to haggle for my business when I got off the bus but I already had my hotel booked so was able to get away free. The room was so tiny, it was humid and the air con kept me awake. My first meal was a Pizza Hut, so you did much better than I. After a few days, I moved to Wan Chai/Central and got a hotel that was under refurbishment (they were still working on the lower floors so I got a beautiful room at a discounted price in a great location. I went on a trip to Macau and simply loved it, to see the Portuguese influence with Chinese characters was fascinating. I really enjoyed my trip to Hong Kong, and I'm sure you will too. My trip to the Tian Tan Buddha was fantastic. It's so wonderful to watch you interact with the locals, always with a smile 😀

welcome to hk!! i’m a little late but in case you didn’t figure it out yet, you don’t have to keep buying the train tickets one by one, you press the station you want to go to, in your case you can just press Tai Wo Hau instead of leaving the train and buying a ticket again at Tsing Yi and Lai King, the prices change depending on the station you are in based on distance to compensate!

Also just my 2 cents opinion and it may not be vital to you. I travel a lot and for me the corner rooms are to be avoided. I have a few experiences that these rooms have higher chances to have "uninvited friends". As far as I can remember I've experienced it in 3 places, Haikou in China, Phnom Penh in Cambodia and Tokyo in Japan. Exactly the same reason with yours, these "friends" do not like noise and be disturbed too. That's why they also have the same preferences as you. I learnt this from my wife and she's working in the hotel business, that's why most of the hotel staff will ring the door bell or a few light knocks on the door before they open the door as a kind of respect even 100% they know it's an vacant room.

Oh my god, sorry to see you walked a wrong way to the hotel, there is a foot-bridge nearby/behind Tai Wo Hau Station Exit B, 12:54 you should take that at very first in order to across the road to the opposite side. recently it is under re-construction so it makes people confused to find the way😢 I know it’s too late to tell you but if anyone here will come to HK and stay in that hotel, please notice it, the right way only takes 8-9 minutes.

Sorry for my honest responding to you comment "Stressful Arrival in HK". You're not so smart in using Google Map. Your got the Exit right (B Exit) and there's a bridge already for you to go to the other side of the road. That road is a main road linking Kowloon city centre and the new developed areas in the New Territories ( in fact the MTR station where you filming was consider NT during my childhood ). If you notice the traffic was heavy and speed was high, there must be some ways to cross the road, but you missed it. @13:07 it's right behind you.
