Both of these songs are from Queen of the Murder Scene, a concept album released in 2018 when Ale was 13, Pau was 16, and Dany was 18. The album tells the story of a young woman’s descent into obsession, murder, and madness. Dust to Dust, the opening track and prologue, introduces themes of life, death, and deception, setting the emotional tone for the album. The song features a Spanish spoken interlude performed by their manager Rudy, usually played on a backing track; however, in the Pepsi Center video, the backing track is mixed much quieter, with crowd microphones turned up so you can hear the audience performing the spoken part. For this performance, the band also added an extended outro that isn’t on the studio recording. Dull Knives (Cut Better), the 9th track from Chapter 3, shows the protagonist’s growing despair and internal struggle, where her evil side is beginning to win. Behind the scenes, the band revealed they tried to extend Dull Knives, but ultimately decided to keep it short, recommending listeners replay it if they feel it’s too brief.

Dull knives cut “better” because they hurt & scar more. At least that’s the mindset of the troubled main character in the bands rock novel “Queen of the Murder Scene”. A concept album extraordinaire.

I had never heard these blended together until this concert. And wow, it works!
@steve318k4 күн бұрын
My take on why they played these songs back to back is that Dull Knives is relatively short (and the fans always comment that), so they masterfully put these 2 songs together. Dust to Dust usually ends at Dany's high note, and they extended it to where her and Ale meet together out front where the transition happens.

Imo, in context of the concert, they're both in the key of E and both from QOTMS therefore, they go together well.
@legslark8 күн бұрын
These songs come from different parts of the QOTMS album, so are not related lyrically. What I know is they added an outro to D2D, for the first time, then a transition to put both these songs together and make it even better IMO!!!😊🎶⚡️

Two of my favorite songs from The Warning... and they snap together so nicely here. :-) Love the extended outro for "Dust to Dust." I also love how Ale's bass is nice and loud in this particular concert.... it is THUMPING! :-D Pau's kick drum also feels like it is more pronounced than at other shows, as well.

“Dust to Dust,” is, IMHO, a showcase song for Pau; those belts are just spectacular, and doing it while hammering away at those drums is just mind-blowing. That said, Ale wrote the bass riff that’s the basis for it all when she was about 11. If you really want to get the full _Queen of the Murder Scene_ experience, you need to go to the 2018 Lunario concert, where they play the whole album in order. The recording quality isn’t quite as good, and it’s a little less polished than this concert, but it has a raw, punk vibe that some fans prefer over the crisper sound they have now. Dany also really lets her performance artist side come out as the story of the Queen progresses.

Queens of Rock. Yes, Ale has been videoed mouthing the words sometimes, Dany too, they love their songs and they're pulled in just like we are and mouthing the words, too. 10 yrs and 4 albums of songs, your ride is only a quarter way through, Looking for Hell You Call A Dream, and Sharks, and many others. Waiting, bro.

Dany also makes gestures in time with various beats (I've noticed it twice in various performances of Animosity) & Pau can frequently been seen mouthing "pow" or "bam" as she loses herself in the kit.

*Queen of the Murder Scene* is worth your time! *Dust to Dust* is the first track on the album, a sort of prologue, and a funeral dirge, at that! It's complete with a sermon that is drowned out by the crowd singing it here. It ends with a death wail by Dany, who is portraying the part of the Queen in the epic story. QOTMS is a VERY ambitious project album that was crowd funded, self-produced, written, composed, and performed by teenagers. The November, 2018, Lunario concert is on their channel. It is the premiere of the album, and features a few songs from their first album, as well. The performance is dark, real, raw, a little rough at points, but hell, they were 13, 16, and 18 there! These two songs are better performances here, but out of order and out of context. They are fan favorites, and drove the audience insane! Dull Knives is from the latter half of the album. It makes a great segue from Dust to Dust, but they are completely different parts of the story. The album is best heard in one sitting, all the way through, as we used to listen to music in the 1960s!
