It's been years since I've visited Cambodia. Some of the foods you tried are newer versions of classic favorites or has Chinese or Vietnamese influences. Fried bananas are traditionally heavily battered and sprinkled with black sesame seeds. Beef stew is typically served with rice noodles or baguettes and has carrots in it. And, your research is correct; Amok is steamed. The surface of a correct version looks smooth like the surface of poached eggs and paste-like once you spoon into it. And it's totally normal to see shredded kafir like leaves sticking out; they're edible decorations. The 2 versions you were served looked more like fish curry. Next time you visit Cambodia, go to any of the beach towns in Komong Som and order the stir fry crab with fresh green peppercorns. The peppercorns are locally grown in the Kompot Province. You're welcome! Thank you for sharing your Food Tour Experience!

That sure was a good day eating amazing food. Everything looked so tasty and I sure would love to start my morning with that rice & meat dish. Impossible to even imagine how all that would taste like. That beef stew got me drooling hard 😋 3 days surely is not enough time to explore any country but least you didn't go hungry. I visited Egypt ones over 20 years ago. Not in a hurry to go back. Looking forward for seeing that trip. Thanks and safe travels 👍
