If you have time to go there, I suggest you try Deckman’s for delicious grilled meats. In the compound they have a Japanese “Omakase “ restaurant. You should also try Fauna for traditional Mexican dishes. Animalon is course meal restaurant that only opens in summer. For breakfast, you could try Dona Estela. They have the best elote pancakes. Honestly it's one of the biggest draws to living in Phoenix, right up there with the pretty cheap cost of living, relatively safe suburbs with big houses, and the lack of natural disasters threatening to destroy your house. Weather is beautiful the majority of the year(especially winter) and every house having A/C and low humidity make the hot Summer very tolerable especially if you just stay indoors a lot. Also you have so many choices of places that are a 2-5 hour drive away, Vegas, San Diego, LA, Mexico etc for vacations. Grand Canyon/Sedona etc for beautiful scenery. Also a simple 2 hour drive up to northern AZ is crazy. You go from Phoenix, the desert city where it snows the least in the country, to the evergreen forest mountains of Flagstaff aka a freezing cold winter wonderland that gets one of the highest inches per year of snow in the whole country. It's so weird. Phoenix does have it's share of drawbacks though like everywhere. But yeah as I was saying before I got carried away contemplating the pros/cons of living here, the amount of awesome restaurants(especially when it comes to various styles of Mexican food, whether it be authentic or Americanized) is so nice. And also with Phoenix being a transplant city with the majority of residents being people from all over the country that moved here, you get such a wide variety of restaurant genres and regional styles. When you go to a Pizza place here, you never know which style it's gonna be... New York, Chicago, California, Sicilian, etc. When you go to BBQ, it could be KC style, Memphis, Texas... whichever style you want, you can find somewhere around the valley. There's really nothing that dominates, it's all random
