A pair of Parkhurst Cumulus Blue Allen Boots arrived today. I prefer green but I already have a pair of Grant Stone Jungle Kangaroo Diesel and plan to get a pair of their Forest Kudu. The Parkhurst looks great, and I would order more, but unfortunately they offer only lug outsoles on their boots. Now that I am older, I prefer leather or, a bit less so, rubber studs. I probably will wait until Parkhurst offer those options before I order another pair. I wish more bootmakers offer leather outsole with embedded studs, not a whole sheet of rubber, but a few studs embedded into the leather. To me, that's best of both worlds.

I watched this video a year ago. As soon as I saw the boots I wanted to get them. Even though their shoe sizing ends at 15 and I measure in at 16.5 I thought I would enquire and see if they could make me a 16. I sent out an email at 10 at night on a Saturday and 10 minutes latter I received a response from Andrew the owner. He told me that they had orders going out several months but would try and make a sixteen if I didn't mind waiting a long time. I said yes and nearly a year latter I got the shoes. I have only worn them a couple of times. They fit great and I get lots of compliments. These are hands down the nicest boots I have ever owned. I want to thank Nick at Stridewise his reviews are always spot on, informative, educational, interesting and never too long. You keep your fans well dressed.

I think light coloured clothing is where green boots/shoes really shine. I got new green casual leather shoes and they are fantastic summer shoes. They pair well with light, earthy colours like beige, light brown, heck even orange. That contrast you get when you have some very light, casual, summer colours, and then bam you have this comfortable and warm, yet unique darker green to round it off. Its unique because green clothing is not very common/popular. Everyone just wants to "play it safe" and get black, white, grey/beige, or if you're more flamboyant you might go with really bright colours like blue, red, yellow, pink. Thats why green is so unique, its such a natural colour.

Do you know if the arch support option effects sizing? Paying an extra 50 for a built in all leather arch support upgrade is a steal. they could charge 75-100 for that and it would be probably right about market standard. In alot of cases, if some people don't opt for it, they're really doing a disservice to themselves, because orthotic insert insoles are trash in general, if they aren't leather and/or cork. If you have foot and back pain, you are probably needing of arch support, bite the bill, and get a fantastic deal you'll never regret on that one, is what I think.

Andrew is an absolute weapon, top bloke. My Kudu Nighthawks arrived in Australia this week and they're absolutely mint, especially for the price. Speaking of colours, it wasn't until my fifth Service style Boot that I went for brown! Green/Olive is surprisingly versatile as you've pointed out, but I also find my GS Forest Kudu's never really quite go perfectly with anything other than brown/dark tan or even Olive. 100% Recommend Bick4 with these, though I've had no first hand experience with Smith's Leather Balm and would also back Andrew's experience and recommendation. Renovateur and most other conditioners will darken them very considerably. Also don't fall for the trap that the Kudu requires conditioning based on small 'plates' of leather appearing dry - it's really hard to explain but the surface can show a lot of plates that look almost crusty despite being plenty well conditioned already. Also, if have wide-ish feet, like a wider D or an E, do not size half down. Go TTS.
@Stridewise4 жыл бұрын
hah calling someone a weapon is a great compliment. I'm super impressed you ordered boots all the way from Australia, Australia needs more goodyear welted boots! Agree on Bick 4.
@japesss4 жыл бұрын
@@Stridewise Good Australian compliment :D Not sure whether you've heard of the Thomas George Collection since you're an expat, but they're a local team of guys in Melbourne working with Fugashin to bring goodyear welted and stitchdown boots into Australia at really good prices, like AUD$350-380 for top notch shoes with leather from quality tanneries and everything by the book (stacked leather heels, cork insoles, closed channel/vibram studded soles). It's remarkable, and the best thing is the shoes are beautiful. I've got a pair of the Blue Suede Freo Service Boots and Brown Burke Loafers and would recommend them to anyone. I've got a heap of RM's as well of course (as you do), but also have a substantial number of options from the good value internationals - Parkhurst, Grant Stone, Meermin etc. Shifting out of casual boot weather here though unfortunately!
