I think after all these years, I still prefer Meteor overall, but I do feel Vestige hits harder. Whereas Meteor feels more "heroic", Vestige always hit more emotionally. I still think it was a mistake they made in the HD Remasters of replacing both songs, although I understand the timing got a bit wonky due to the reorganization of the scenes. I think what I always loved about this particular entrance was how Kira just came in all business. None of his usual "Everyone please stop fighting and withdraw", just straight to the point - immediately charges the Destiny, "Archangel pick up Lacus, I got this. Cagali get back to HQ.", he doesn't even respond to Cagali or give any sort of acknowledgement or reassurance, just straight back to dealing with Shin. Just pure focus.

Wasn't aware that the songs were replaced. After hearing this spot and the initial Strike Freedom launch with Vestige again that was absolutely what was missing. Vestige to me is irreplaceable, and as you say, doing so was a beeg mistake.

In their previous match, Kira was plagued by many of the same doubts the others were facing. Shinn was singularly focused on beating Kira and actually had a plan for doing so. Probably the only time Shinn has been focused and prepared. In this fight, the shoe is on the other foot. Kira is 100% focused again and on his A game with the new Gundam. Shinn would have lost without his backup.

They'll probably say it was to not overuse Vestiage since it was already the new opening theme by this point. Though that's a lousy reason, METEOR is nice but it does not bring the essence to this scene that Vestiage did. Also tons of animes use a song as an opening and insert song right after the other. One of my favorites is in the season 1 finale of A Certain Scientific Railgun, the song Level 5: Judgment is the opening but then gets used as an insert song about 2 mins right after, it falls in so perfectly just like Vestiage should have been. Say whatever you want about the Strike Freedom but that song was meant to be paired with it, METEOR should stay with the original Freedom.

Cagalli didn't pilot MS much after the first war ended, naturally her skills were rusty, and even the new Akatsuki didn't help, she was no match against a berserker like Shinn, maybe against Lunamaria she might fare better

She will lose to Lunamaria, Cagalli is a politician, not a ms pilot. Lunamaria is also a coordinator.

Coordinators are not invincible if that's what you're implying. Lunamaria is definitely a cut above from your average pilots no question, but she doesn't have the raw talents like Shinn or Rey does, and she rarely does anything noticeable. The attack on Daedalus for example, Shinn and Rey drew off most of the base defense forces, leaving her to sneak in and attack a defenseless control room and space dock As for Cagalli, she had to fight during the first war, it's why Orb built the Strike Rouge and later the Akatsuki for her, so she's certainly no slouch in MS combat. Ultimately she chose to be a politician by the second war, and her chance of piloting were greatly reduced. That being said, she's not totally rusty, she was more than capable of handling ZAFTs rank and file soldiers, not just because Akatsuki's a top of the line MS. Let's not forget one other thing, despite being a natural she can go into SEED mode too, while Lunamaria cannot

Plus, Shinn actually, for once, had a solid plan built around how to beat Kira's style. Also, Impulse was an updated tech over the Freedom. It is also funny that the Strike Freedom and the Infinite Justice are actually older than the Destiny and were both also being developed by ZAFT, which meant that Shinn got clapped when he fought suits that are technically older than the one that he is using. Its mostly because Shinn is trying to go cqc against a suit meant for cqc while his own isn't designed for cqc(The Destiny is basically the ultimate support type mobile suit. It perfects the idea of the striker pack system by putting it all in one suit without any major struggles but the biggest flaw to this is being jack of all trades master of nine) while the enemy suit is piloted by a guy who specializes in cqc.

Its funny when you think about it. Destiny was a rejected design of Freedom during the creation of SEED. So they just repuposed it as the Destiny when writing Destiny. So it got clapped by Freedom behind the scenes, and in universe hes clapped by new Freedom

​@@user-fq9cd4tq7g that was before the Strike Freedom and Infinite Justice made their appearance but even then... To be honest, the Destiny isn't that strong, as it isn't that well-balanced or seems to be using all the latest technology in some regards. First of its only melee options are either the Palm Beam Cannon or the using boomerangs as "beam daggers" which lack the reach of the beam sabers. The reason for this is that Arondight Beam Sword is meant for anti-ship combat and isn't anywhere near as agile in use as the beam sabers (As seen when he fights both the Freedom and the Justice). Its Plasma Beam canon is also unnecessarily long and thus cumbersome compared to the Strike Freedom version, which was integrated in the chest. And last but not least its mobility is less than that of the Strike Freedom as it doesn't use the HiMAT mode only the Voiture Lumiere Propulsion System (while the Strike Freedom has both). So unlike the other 3 Nuclear power suits in the show which all focus on a specific area (melee or long range) the Destiny isn't even that great Design wise. I would argue the Legend is a better designed suit than the Destiny, as it excels in what it's mean to do.

@@JustiXNL Given theirs already too many old threads about why Shinn was shelved as a MC early etc don't need to bother explaining why also the Destiny seems like so incomplete or not seems strong as a Gundam. In actuality Destiny is just a fine as gundam (heck its just a perfect strike in a nutshell), it is a very versatile gundam that can do anti-ship to anti-ms/armor combat without worry but its a gundam made for strike fast 1 ohk looking at most weapon it got as well as the fact how Perfect Strike fought when Mu was using it in defending orb, cause Destiny is just a improved Perfect Strike and the fact how most scenes with Shinn always 1 OHK most of his enemies and it has mirage colloid. Anyways Freedom has alot of range weaponry,but it only got 2 beam saber for melee which makes Freedom bad in melee fighting, hence most iconic scenes of freedom is always range fighting scenes and its pretty showy. While Destiny relies alot on the mirage colloid,has a rifle and long range beam weapon, boomerang for range/close,palm beam and big ass sword for everything and most iconic scenes are close up of palm beam and big ass sword to 1 ohk a enemy and not very showy.

It should actually be "Strike Freedom saves Shinn from killing Cagalli in front of Athrun". Right before he gets the Infinite Justice, too. As amazing as Kira is, I'd MUCH rather fight him than Athrun. He's *way* more murder-y when he's mad.
