String Cheese Incident is performing right up the street from my house in North Plains right now as I type this... I can hear them jammin right now...They play almost every year at Hornings Hideout in North Plains Oregon... Its a cult following lots of cool cats, hippies and friends. Great show, good times...

My buddy (guitar) & I (organ/keys) had a sort of jamish open concept band. But with heavy keys & not fitting neat genre we couldn't BUY any gigs (in seattle). We had a lot of stuff that sounded like this except Doc & I would trade licks a lot, really played well off each other. Now he's a bidness man & I'm a former artist! Oh well, thank God bands like this are out there! Never heard them before, but I LOVE It! Thanks for sharing, this is incredible! I see a few CDs being purchased!

I first heard of these guys back in the early 90's They were playing a wedding at Deer Valley Resort (where my sister and I both worked)... She catered the deal. After the show she offered the leftovers to the guys in the band since they were pretty unknown at the time... In return for containers of hummus, marscarpone cheese, and other vegetarian treats she got a copy of one of their "demo" tapes which she immediately passed on to me. Amazing stuff ;)

michael kang is playing a 5 string mandolin, but it is a bit bigger and tuned lower than traditional mandolin tuning. It is tuned in 5ths, though
