Thankyou! I’m a lefty and it was nice to hear someone else with my Quilty struggles. I feel like there are a lot of left ganders in the “art” world! I learned to knit watching my grandmother and switching it in my head. My clients used to freak out as I would present things to them and read upside down!!! It never seemed weird to me 😊

Hi, I am a leftie from New Zealand. I had not given consideration to the torque behaviour when using right handed scissors, that was very interesting and something I will keep in mind - but having bought some leftie scissors found that my eye for precision cutting (especially with small scissors) remains with left or uni-handled right-cutting scissors. There must be someone else out there like me! I love the big professional sized and the pinking shears in left-handed design - Mundial is a well-known brand here and last for years. Creative grid rulers are fantastic and I have a couple of small ones and will be getting the bigger ones in the near future, especially the long rulers ie 6", I can't wait. I own many rulers, but will be looking to sell them off and updating to Lefties as they hit the market. As for rotary cutting, I have gratefully adapted to cutting left or right handed, but don't ask me to eat soup with a spoon in my right hand LOL Now for a little funny - the subtitles are a little off here and there, but the last thing you said was Happy Lefties Day - the subtitle said Happy Mothers Day! 🙂 Thanks for a cheerful presentation.

I am a lefty! I work in a fabric store. I have two pairs of scissors that I use to the 20 plus pairs available to the other associates that are right handed. I have adapt to for 30 years of quilting.

I bought every ruler in Creative Grids left handed range the second I saw them in January. Game changer, but also took time to retrain my brain - I kept flipping the ruler to make sure I was right. Being a lefty, we often resort to doimg things the right handed way, so for a long time I cut fabric like a righty.

I have the Excellent Hole sticker! My dad was a lefty but was reasonably ambidextrous!

Yay to the fellow lefties! I didn't realize Creative Grids makes lefty rulers, so thanks for that info. Kai and Famore are my favorite left handed scissor brands. Kai's cut like butter, but they don't make small, embroidery size in left-handed. Then I go to Famore.

THANK YOU for this video!!! Right-handed people just don't know the struggles of left-handed people...or what we go through on a daily basis, whether in the sewing room or kitchen. I'll be checking out the rulers and rotary cutters!!

Thank you! I am also a lefty. I have always taught facing my audience, telling them I am their mirror. This presumes most folks are right-handed. I demo next to those who are left-handed, which is the normal way to teach for "same handedness." This makes it easier for both to do what they see. I will have to think about how to re-orient to left-handed rulers before trying one. They should be more intuitive after the learning curve. And mirrored from how a right-handed person would use a right-handed ruler. Interesting concept.

If you want the numbers the correct orientation on a right-handed ruler, you can put a piece of tape (painters, masking, washi, etc) along the line you want to use to measure your cuts. This means you only have to do the half-inch count once.
