Thank you for this. My grandpa used to play this song for me on his harmonica when I was a small child, one of my core memories. He's 95 now and I'm going to see him this weekend, he doesn't know I recently started learning the violin so I think I'll surprise him, maybe convince him to break out the old harmonica and try a duet! I'm not young like the other commenters though, I'm 31 lol.

You can play it just like it is presented here, but on viola it will be in a different key than the music you hear.

Yes, but ones that don't use the thinnest string can be played on viola in the same sound as the violin by just moving all the notes over one string to the right. Check out the viola section on my website TheStringClub dot com/songs/viola. That's where I'm putting up most of my new songs (and you don't have to move any strings around!)
