Those Bigham Brothers strip tills do a really good job. I hated to see their factory leave our state.

Ya they stopped making strip tills now

@@oobreefarms That’s a shame. I used to rent them from our John Deere dealer then they got bought out , now the new owners won’t rent anything and I don’t do enough strip till to justify buying one, and since Bigham Brothers moved out of state, the local John Deere dealers are selling Slhagel brand strip tills. I have no idea how well they work.

I would like to see some more up close shots of the ripper. What make is it and how it is set up. I like the way it is tilling the seed bed. Our KMC and Unerverth rippers dont till up the ground like that in cover crop. Looks good

Watch the video before this one that I Uploaded. It has a little bit more of a close up

Is this organic, how are you applying fertilizer if not?
@robertteap80529 ай бұрын
Never heard or seen this before... I presume it's first a cover crop, then you replant into the tilled ground.... what crops? Are the resulting crops harvested or cut as silage / feed?

This is a form of ridge tilling. There likely will be a burn down herbicide sprayed on the field and then this farmer will come back and plant soybeans or corn on those strips. The dead trash will help to mulch the field and hold in moisture. This also lets the farm target his fertilizer to only these strips, so it is used more effectively.

Is this for some particular crop type, I've not heard the term strip tilling before. Great video thank you 👊

I use to live in Central Ohio and up near Loudenville they do strip farming, I miss seeing this. If it is done right and the right time of the year you can see100 foot strip of green ( corn or beans) then a strip of pink ( clover) then a strip of blueish purple ( alfalfa) then a strip of golden yellow ( wheat) all in th same field just in strips around the hillsides😊. My opinion is it was very breathtaking

whats the idear of doing that,never seen that befor,
@oobreefarms10 ай бұрын
It makes a nice seed bed while still leaving some cover crop. So the sand won't blow and damage the cotton or peanuts we plant

Why did you fold the bar up when you turned?

Great video Oobree but like what has already been said last couple of minutes just a black screen and music. If you don’t mind I was wondering about how many acres you farm?
