Nice!! Did the accident sturgeon catch 20 years ago by Sherman. And yes, smaller sturgeon you can take out of the water for a pic. Over size and Green you are not supposed to remove from the water. That adolescent fish was beautiful! Good thing it was a small fish, 60+ inch probably would have spooled you. I have caught one small Green, I was solo, had in the boat before I realized it was green. Got a pic and quickly released. Fish and Game were at the dock when I went to load. Discussed the catch, they were cool about my catch and pic.

Where do you have your sonar mounted so you could see your bait/lure like that?
@fishtherapy2473 күн бұрын
The transducer is mounting on the stern by the motor. Level adjustment is key. I use regular sonar when I'm sitting still. I put it on high cherp with A-scope on

They really need to reconsider the aize and bag limit of striper to save the native fish population, it is a start. Striper compete with sturgeon, and the are better designed predator fish. Itll definitely help the salmon population. Nice catch, i havent fished for sturgeon in over ten years, and dont think i ever will again, unless its a bicatch.
@Just_4_Fish3 күн бұрын
Do you realize that mismanagement of the salmon hatchery and water flows caused all that you’re talking about. Don’t forget all the insecticide and pesticide that AG uses and in turn seeps into the water systems.
@richdiddens40592 күн бұрын
@@Just_4_FishStiped bass are an invasive species. It varies from year to year but between 15 and 30% of salmon smolts are eaten each year by stripers on their way to the ocean. And a similar amount of native smelt. Removing size and bag limits on stripers would have a huge affect on salmon numbers.
@Just_4_Fish2 күн бұрын
@@richdiddens4059 it doesn’t matter if we aren’t even producing enough smolts and releasing at the right locations. Clearly the salmon returns aren’t even a shadow of what they used to be. You’re talking about small issues, I’m talking about the main villain. The villain in this case throws the striper idea out there to distract from the main issue and it’s clearly working as many of you took the bait.

@Just_4_Fish I'm a 43 year old californian, and have fished since I was old enough to walk, I said it would be a START, I live in Sacramento where the two major norcal rivers meet along with the feather, I know. We all need to eat, so the water diversion won't change, they really need to reconsider bag limit or no limit at all. For every striper that eats a salmon no matter what stage of life it is in, that's 1 less salmon that wouldn't have been eaten by an invasive specie, do u agree on that? Striper don't just target smolt, a full grown striper will try to prey on full grown salmon as well. Every striper we take out the water will help, you know it yourself. Only proponents are bait shops and guides, because they make a killing on bait and gear when the striper migrate.
