Nice basket. I love that fabric collection. It’s so festive. And your teaching style is so fun. Lots of energy and very well stated and shown. Here’s an alternative way to make the opening. If you leave the turning opening at the top between the handles instead of the side of the lining then you will hide it when you do the topstitch around the top of the basket and you won’t have to sew it closed with a seam on the inside lining.

Uh oh. "Scant" is wide open for interpretation, but super important for this pattern. I made this as a gift. The measurements were off because my "scant" wasn't exactly like your "scant" but I was able to make it work. Can you tell I like precise measurements? 🙂 Anyway, it is super cute and the person I gifted it to loved it and wants another one!

A zip pocket inside would keep small items safe. A sunglasses pocket or phone size one, would also be useful, as would a loop or hook to keep your keys on. Very neat bag, but would everything fall out if up-ended?
