Great video. Nice old tractor. We used one of those rakes (we call it the 'rolly polly') last year when all the other rakes were out working and I needed to rake in some hay

Sorry but you have that machine set wrong. You are not allowing the large spring to do it's job. The weight is all on the chain, which would be correct for transporting the machine, but in the field the chain needs to be lengthened so that the spring takes the weight which in turn allows the wheels to "float" over the ground. I would suggest that with a Dexta that you should be using the control chains which I don't see. The hydraulics on a Dexta were never good enough to rely on the Position (height) Control. You need the chains to control the height accurately and then set the main spring so that the tines of the wheels just gently rake the ground. The wheels on your machine are bouncing up and down on the ground and that leads to poor raking and a lumpy swath.

I'm thinking of buying a similar machine. Can you tell me how well they work on the headlands please?

@@warrenblain2365 They work the same on the headlands as they do in the rest of the field. But you've just got to know how to use the things. People of my age are fortunate insofar as they were almost the standard for turning the swath and rowing up, bearing in mind that when they were introduced grass was still being cut with cutter bar mowers.
