I suffered a stroke in 2013 a week before Christmas 🎄! Everything you said I can identify with! It’s been 9 years now and since then I have resumed normal activities through prayer, my faith in God, family, and physical therapy. My recovery is a miracle even though I’m still not at 💯 % people who never met me before can’t tell I had a stroke. I want to encourage others who are recovering from a stroke to not give up on yourself! Listen to your doctors advice and take your physical therapy seriously. Maintain relationships with those around you who are positive and not negative! My faith in Jesus Christ and divine healing kept me grounded. My heart goes out to anyone who is a stroke survivor because we survived a life changing event. Blessings!

Hi Im a stroke survivor, I had a stroke and did'nt know what was happening. And I tried to over come it like I've done with other sickness. And while I was standing I fell to the side and broke my ankle but did'nt know because I could'nt feel nothing. But my daughter came and found me on the floor the next day ( I live alone). She rushed me to the hospital and I did'nt get treated until 11 hour later. to make a long story short when I got home, I walked funny cause I did'nt have strenth on my right side, couldn't talk right, so I decided I did'nt want to stay that way, so however I could I would exercise my legs and arm daily, First day I could only do 1 or 2 counts whatever the exercise was, after 3 weeks I was doing 30 counts of each exercise. I live alone, I walk and talk , do all my house work, shopping, everything on my own. I give all the Glory and Honor to Jesus Christ my Lord and Savior for what He has done and continues to do in my life. And Im praying for all of you that have had a stroke.

I am also. a recovering stroke victim to where I had lost the right side of my ability to move. I remember that it had with a splitting headache, and I did not have any rehabilitation I had left the hospital after 2weeks, and rehabilitated and nursed myself back to a full recovery. I believed that frolics and fragment tissue of the brain had built up pressure thus causing a blockage to one side of the brain, and where not enough oxygen was getting into the brain. the doctors that had treated said that it was caused by a build - up of stress. Stress is a killer don't stress!!!

During the middle 2020 my mom was complaining about a very painful migraine so she asked my grandma to come pick me up from her so I wouldn't worry after I left she was lying on the floor unable to get up and was vomiting every where so she called her boyfriend at the time and then he called hatzolah(ambulance) where she was rushed to the hospital they did a MRI on her and she had brain bleeds which caused her to go into a coma and while they were in the middle of operation she shot a clot to her brain causing a stroke(right and middle). All she wanted to do was survive for me even if she was in a coma. About 3 weeks later she woke up from the coma and the doctor told her she couldnt walk. she didn't believe and as soon as she tried to get up she vommited. About 2 or so weeks later she came home where a lot of nurses came and Occupational therapists etc. About last year September she started biokenetics and as of now she can look left and right she can't look up and down she can drive she can't swim she can't move fast she can walk on her own it takes her like maybe 3 minutes to get out of bed since she has to get her balance back but that's what happened. Let me say most people take their parents for granted until they lose/almost lose them.

@rgseven6557 she's progressing. Her expressive speech was affected. Day 1 couldn't remember people day 7 using the phone and having conversations. Some word Salas but overall great. Monitoring the heart also because it's usually affected during strokes. Please make sure you're implementing self-care and take care of yourself because you can become ill and if you're not good then you can't help her. Advocate for her and create a presence at the hospital. Call often or be there. The care is better when they see family but allow them to do their job. Ask questions and try not to show mom your worries. Have family and friends support you, talking to you, visiting her, etc. Please don't take all of this on by yourself. Prepare for a long fight but I'm sure you'll do what you need. The thing that hurts is seeing someone like that and comparing how they were. Catching early is good and her brain will try to rewire to learn whatever is affected. Prayers for you and mom. Please don't feel guilty for not being there daily either. Go with friends, go watch a movie, food, and have some personal time. Sorry for writing this much. You and your family will get through this. Stay positive.

Thank you for sharing your story I also had a stroke on my right side I had to have a craniotomy the process of trying to recover from not being able to move a whole side like I had my stroke on the right side I was definitely in a depression for a long time god truly blessed me and saved my life I am very thankful my arm is still taking the longest to come back I think when I can get function to come back it will cut down a lot of my problem especially trying to dress myself I would give anything just to be able to pick my daughter up I just keep believing in god and trying to work hard in therapy when I can

I had a stroke 2 years ago and then brain surgery and had to remove a portion of my cerebellum. I am left with loss of balance and constant state of dizziness. I've learned to live with it but have been trying to find someone that has the same symptoms which are like constant vertigo. Life is good and I'm so thankful but it's different. I've seen 7 neurologist but no one can help me find someone with my symptoms. Just wanted to share and find out what they've been through.

My mom had a stroke in February 2018 and just when I thought she was getting better, she had a second stroke around June 2021. She has lost her ability to swallow, talk and since she has had two strokes, her full body is paralyzed and as a result she lies down everyday which has given her very deep bed sores. Guys I’m 20 now and my mom had her first stroke which she left half of her body paralyzed and lost her speech. These past four years have been the worst of my life. My mom has lost weight so much that any time I look at her I get scared.....there’s a lot on mind that I can’t type cause because I don’t think I’ll be able to finish and I don’t want to talk to any of my family or friends about it cause everyone keeps saying trust in God and it’s exactly what I been doing for almost my whole life now and still very bad things happen to me...I’ll just end here

OmyGosh. So very sorry, hun.💔 Life isn't fair and is often times difficult to understand. This has to be very heavy, sad, and worrisome for you. Try to look up support groups that have folks in them that are truly going thru the same type of situation with their close family members. It can seem like you are isolated and very alone in your world dealing with all this extreme trauma. But there are people who are struggling with this same terrible situation, and I believe it's where you will find real support and understanding. Best of everything to you, hun!!🙏💜 #HUGS

When I was 15 I had a really bad head injury at the back of my head and not long after the head injury I felt really weird. The next couple of days I was doing one of the hardest drugs then one night I did the drug and straight after smoking it I felt doom and I was scared but I didn't think much of it then I had a shower then when I finished my shower I noticed I was so cold and I should of been sweating because it was really hot day then I started feeling weirder and weirder like I was really sick then I remember looking in the mirror and one of my eyelids was dropping and then i started seeing flashing lights in my vision then I laid in bed then I wanted to have a smoke but for some weird reason I just couldn't get myself to pick up the smoke it was like something was stopping me I just couldn't do anything but sit on my bed then as I was sitting there I said mom if anything bad happens to me call the ambulance. I started googling stroke symptoms then just as I was reading them I heard an ear piercing ringing sound then all of a sudden I had the worst head ache in the entire world the pain was so bad it can not be described and I started screaming and our neighbour came over because he thought I was getting raped because the screaming was so terrible. My right side of my body was fully numb and was tingling like crazy and it was so weak I I couldn't even pick up or hold a pen because I remember doing that and the pen felt so heavy like weight lifts and I felt like my legs were not attached to me but I knew they were and mom called an ambulance but at first she and a friend of mine thought I was just having a panic attack but then they saw that I was dying and I was freezing I was the coldest I had ever been. When the ambulance arrived they had to help me slowly walk to the ambulance and I was still crying but I think I had stopped screaming just loud sobbing though and they put me on a drip and the pain started going away slowly and they injected some drug into me twice to calm me down because of the way I was crying and I stayed up all night in hospital crying texting a friend telling her of what happened. Wow I remember it like it was yesterday, this left me very traumatized. No body no doctor told me what happened to me but I think I had a stroke. If anyone knows what happened to me please let me know because I still have not got an answer to this day 💜

My father (51) suffered a brain stroke (on left side of his brain) on 1st of April, 2023 may be due to high blood pressure (as he has been suffering from high bp for a long time n he didn't use to take medicines of high bp regularly). He got some immediate treatment n thankfully he survived.. but his ability to talk has lost n right side of his body is paralyzed. In the early 4-5 days of the stroke, He wasn't able of swallowing so feeding pipe was used but now he can swallow properly. The doctors discharged him from hospital on 6th April saying that he is now out of danger but it'll take a long time to recover completely.. At home, we ourselves do his physiotherapy as suggested by physiotherapist.. Can someone tell how long he will take to come out of his paralysis?

It Depends as each person’s recovery is different. In the 1st year will be the most recovery. So keep having your dad practice regularly as this will help retrain the brain to function.
