Been building engines for 30 years and nothing in this video was nonsense. If you guys need to watch this video a couple times. Do it and learn the proper procedure because this is all true for any engine. It’s nice to see the small engine game is getting so big They make it so easy to grab the right parts now with very little guess work.

I was recently given a 1996 Dodge Viper go kart to restore, it was a dealership promotion from when my late uncle bought his Viper back in the day, i plan on replacing the brakes & tires first then the anemic nearly 30 year old Honda GX100 engine with a brand new 196 with a 204 stroker kit, intake, exhaust, springs and mild cam.

Just got my self a new 224 predator a few days ago from my mini Baja I’ve had for a while now I did as much as I could on a 0$ budget with the 196cc I ported, sanded the block, deleted the and head the one thing I bought was a thin head gasket, jetted the carb and ran 5:1 gears with a clutch and got 48 mph, I’m still waiting on the torque converter and I’m going to see what the 224 does stock with an exhaust and torque converter does then it’s billet rod cam valve springs flat top piston flywheel and slide carb time

By far, your best video.

My opinion on stroker cranks is that they defently produce more torque in the low end but you also increase the wear on the piston (increase in the rod angle = more forces on the cylinder wall = more friction and heat) so when you ride the engine on the race track and you are on crazy rpms you could overheat it or worst case cenario you lock it.. overall i would ride it just in something you need a lot of torque and max at 6500rpm (throttle stop or sm).. piston acceleration is also higher, so you got even more friction! Btw great video! Always learning something

remember everyone with big enough valves and a fast enough piston you can actually pull in more air than the displacement essentially making a small amount of boost at high rpm

@@RedBeardsGarage The Greyhounds are ok. Unique block because of the tank mounts and side cover. The head took a rocker cover that used 5 bolts. They called it a 5 bolt head. Everything else clone.

I don't recall seeing or hearing this in the video but a hypereutectic are much more temperature stable piston choice of all with the extra silicon content. offers you the ability to run a closer fit between cylinder wall and piston skirt. forged and billet pistons are far better for extreme horsepower under high levels of boost but will be noisy oil burners until the engine comes up to temperature and also forged an billet pistons can be a risk for cold engine seizure if you do not thoroughly warm up your race engine before giving it "The Beans!!"

Best thing for a stroker is the Dyno Cams 224 camshafts there already clearance in between the lobes and the lobes are narrowed for clearance plus have a slimmer compression release for the 58mm crankshafts. Cheers
