Dipika Aggarwal, MD, is both a stroke survivor and a Stage 4 colorectal cancer survivor. She's also Assistant Professor of Neurology at The University of Kansas Health System. After bravely surviving Stage 4 colorectal cancer in 2018, she suffered an unexpected hemorrhagic stroke in September, 2019 that left her severely aphasic and completely flaccid on her entire right side. Her own experience as a stroke survivor now informs how she works with other stroke survivors in her neurology practice. She's on the board of The American Stroke Foundation and is dedicated to spreading awareness about one of the most under-recognized and under-served effects of a stroke: post-stroke depression (PSD).
The goal of the American Stroke Foundation is to help stroke survivors continue improving and regaining independence in daily living skills, and to support stroke survivors and their families through their ongoing journey of "life after stroke."
