Strokestown Park Volunteer Grain Project

Irish Heritage Trust volunteers are a valuable part of the team at Strokestown Park working across the Palladian House, gardens, woodlands, and the National Famine Museum.
In 2023, a volunteer project commenced there to grow, harvest and mill their own grain. This is the story of the success of this sustainable project funded by Creative Ireland. It shares the journey from the idea right through to preparing the ground, tending and harvesting the crop, to milling the flour and finally baking bread.
