@@jamesanthony5681 Let's say all of that is true. Mulroney also signed NAFTA and made Canadians richer than ever before, as well as removing the hidden MST and giving us a transparent GST which laid the ground for Chretien and Martin to put Canada back on fiscal track in the 90's. Pierre Trudeau, may have advocated against Quebec separatism but he also destroyed the economy and gave us the Charter which is used to abuse Canadians to this very day. History is not so simple as Red good, Blue bad.

Brain did inherit quite a big mess from the Trudeau government and the country did have a tough time implementing the much needed institutional reforms that were necessary to keep the country on track. If he stayed in office another term, there's no doubt that he would have been congratulated instead of Chretien for fixing the economy and creating the surplus after the economic wasteland that was the 70s and 80s. The Canada US trade Agreement and the GST were monumental in helping Canada's economy recover and helping the government lower it debts and deficits. Chretien in comparison didn't really overturn any of Mulroney's polices, but on the contrary he extended them by increasing the GST (something he ran on removing) and creating NAFTA to replace the Canada U.S Trade agreement. He was also allot more moderate than Reagan or Thatcher (two politicians I'm not particularly found of) and was a very pragmatic PM.

This was one of our more "can do" prime ministers. People hated him because he did the right thing for Canada. I admired him for years. However, I am not pleased with his dishonourable behaviour after leaving office. I threw out his book.

@Yobbie726 жыл бұрын
Christopher Cappella Actually, in this context he is inferior, because he is the guest on this man's show. And as for the whole question, it's redundant because we're not talking about royalty here, and the entire purpose of a handshake is to express a certain equality and that you have come in peace. It was designed to show that you weren't holding a weapon in your hand.

Extremely "diplomatic" way he had about him speaking about the current PM. And I also caught all the jabs at Justin Trudeau. "Young and popular" doesn't matter. And when he hit his talking point about the deficit he inherited he never said Pierre Trudeau, just Mr Trudeau leaving us to naturally connect it to Trudeau Jr. I don't support either party but those were some 1st class veiled attacks/refusal to attack the man in charge answers to those ?s. Man knows how to talk, I'll give him that.
