Not mentioned in the interview, but he first became known in Quebec as a child actor in Jean Coutu drugstore ads. The money he got then for those commercials was kept aside till he became an adult and that was the main source of financing for his first feature film.

He's pale because he's healthy... Being tan (unless it's the natural color of your skin) results from excessive sun exposure, that leads to human's most common cancer basal cell carcinoma as well as deadly cancers such as squamous cell carcinomas and melanomas. Pale people are healthy! FTW pale people! (unless the natural color of your skin is tan because of your ethnicity of course)
