that last strip of the castlefunnies was perfect. all of that setup with the talk of polo, and then there's just a completely flat and bizzare "punchline" that is just utterly disappointing and not at all funny. honestly it's brilliant and kind of amazing how accurate it is to most actual newspaper comics.

We used to have to read the newspaper for like 30 minutes in a class in Jr high. Me and a friend would always read the comics then switch. So I can say it is very accurate. I remember one comic where a women walking in a pizza shop and said "YOU!" that was literally the whole comic. They were kind of funny in how unfunny they were.

If you think about it, it's kind of touching that they kept the strip running to keep one old man happy. (Even if it's strongly implied that they didn't know anything about the guy, like his name or even which side he fought for.)

I'm actually kinda fascinated by The Castlefunnies. Especially the last comic. It follows a traditional premise-setup-punchline formula, and then COMPLETELY botches it by having a punchline that is not only not funny, it doesn't even ATTEMPT to make a joke. I'm sure you could come up with any number of responses for the KOT you say that would actually qualify as jokes, (whether or not they're good jokes is a different matter) but here, they were so careful to give the reader absolutely nothing. I'm impressed.

Dragon's Layer Productions ...and then it wraps around to being funny again not only because of how unfunny it is (i.e. it’s an anti-joke) but because it’s *totally something the actual KOT would say in that scenario* . It’s kind of amazing.

Yeah, to be fair Homestar Runner writing can have spotty places like these, where the brothers chaps took an email or idea and forced it to fit into the mold of what they wanted to make that week. But eh, I loved the comic strip rant though.

I read somewhere on the creators twitter page that they're working on a big project at the moment which means they don't have time for new cartoons. But they're still paying to keep the site up so that people can still visit the site whenever they need to. They haven't quit just yet, they're just taking a long hiatus.

I loved these. My uncle owns all of them dvd's and bonus dvd's. But look they we're making money and quit it probbaly became non-profitable. From what I read, he pronounces Hertfordshire wrong. The first E is supposed to be pronounced like an A. I guess we Americans are too used to the capital of Connecticut.
