"Why thank you, Senator." I like to think that this was Strong Sad's attempt to finally get back at the extremely long list of nicknames that Strong Bad has for him, but Senator was the only thing he could come up with.

The people who manned that station were exactly like this example was, but not only that?- I no joke distinctly remember that they actually *did* play an hour or so of chanting. Maybe two or more because it was still on when I came back from my shift that day, only for it to switch back on towards 'normal' alternative underground rock music. This happened on more than one occasion too. But it wasn't a regular daily thing either. I have no idea who was behind the programming of that station but I salute you sir or madam. 😂👌 Thanks for broadening my horizons.

Strong Bad is SO right at 0:45, I used to listen to Nights With Alice Cooper on the radio years ago and I imagined him being somewhere in his 40's or 50's with blonde hair but I was WAY wrong he looks much older then how he sounds and looks like he came right out of a horror movie
@reNINTENDO
@reNINTENDO 8 жыл бұрын
Well Alice Cooper's music got mainstream in the 70's, so it would be quite impressive if he were still in his 50's. Plus being a rock musician, I'd wager drugs/smoke/alcohol probably didn't do him any favors.
@hotaru8309
@hotaru8309 5 жыл бұрын
Yes. I'm glad I'm not the only one who imagined a blonde guy, although I pictured younger. Actually, if you've listened to his show he wasn't really a druggie or quite as party hard as most rock stars are made out to be. Alice Cooper tells stories about other musicians and famous people that he knew/knows and it's interesting hearing what different people were really like. I made that sound way more boring than it is. Basically Alice Cooper and his band are their characters from Spinal Tap, the movie. The movie I saw after years of his radio show.

In college, you recorded everything you could in cassette tape. We didn't have free downloads, so if you wanted to listen to something again without buying the album, you had to have a spry hand with the record button.

The public radio imitation was extremely accurate, at least for the news programs... I always listen to my local public radio station, but it's usually for the stuff like Radiolab, This American Life, Snap Judgement, or Wait, Wait, Don't Tell Me. Not so much the news...

Jadeite Nephrite If you want a whole station of stuff like that, PRX exists. It’s on SiriusXM and TuneIn. It’s all sorts of stuff from public radio around the US.

There's a host on All Classical Portland who sounds just like the "smooth 'n' smarmy" voice Strong Bad does.

The thought of Homestar standing in his living room at 7 in the morning with a public radio tote bag on his head, throwing a glass of whiskey at the radio will keep me entertained for hours at a time.

In a way, I do all four of these at once. I do the drive time morning show on a public radio station owned by a college on which most of the music I play is from the distant past.

Oh the morning drivetime show. There's one broadcast in my area called the Two Guys Named Chris. Unfortunately, it's broadcast on the only station with decent coverage of the city. What is wrong with playing music while people are driving?
