@1GoodWoman3 сағат бұрын
@ I imagine the winds will make drones from the ground impossible, the flames and winds make helicopters impossible or very dangerous to put in the air. We do need coverage but can’t we get multiple feeds from the fire trucks and maybe dedicated fire fighters with cameras? All the private channels claim to be media have to be complicating things massively, risking the health of their own teams and just not thinking. Adrenaline (and youth/inexperience) will do that for sure but by now one would hope the mainstream media would have good, appropriate and responsible rules in place. It isn’t as if this is the first California fire for heaven’s sake! People and health first, audience, profits, awards and stuff not even on the list, or shouldn’t be, in this kind of situation.

These used to be natural forest that cleaned themselves up by burning. Now California is over populated with rich people building homes in these forrest. Priorities have changed from monitor the forest fire, to there are homes in that forest, so we must put out the fire. They keep fighting the fires and nature to save homes that should have never been there in the first place. Every year, the undergrowth gets worse and now has become dangerous because they will not let them burn like they have naturally for ions.

@patrisio316 сағат бұрын
It depends. Most of the forests in No. CA (and 57% of all forests in the state) are national forests and are the responsibility of the feds to manage. Then there is a lot of land...both forests and shrub lands....that are privately owned by individuals, families, farmers, ranchers, corporations, tribes, etc. (40% of forests are on private lands). The state has certain power to do things on private property, but not absolute power.

Each year, California's leaders seem to surpass their own records for disaster, with each successive year proving more destructive than the last. It often appears as though there’s an unspoken competition to heighten fire risks, while residents grapple with devastating losses, largely due to a stubborn reluctance to acknowledge the urgent need for change. Instead of tackling these pressing issues, the focus seems to rest on outdoing past catastrophes. How can Californians allow their leaders to persist in such a reckless approach? It’s as if the leaders are asking, “How can we create even more perilous and deadly conditions than before?” Consider this analogy: when two trees stand close together and one catches fire, the other is almost certain to follow. In contrast, a tree isolated miles from any fuel source is unlikely to ignite another tree it can’t reach. It’s simply common sense! Reflecting on the misguided mentality of those in power, I find some comfort in not residing in California.
@watchtheduck118 сағат бұрын

@Ghostshadows30616 сағат бұрын
What kind of comment is that when you leave out the apparent solution? What changes are you talking about? Not building houses next to trees? Cutting down all trees that are next to other trees? Seriously I live in California and if the politicians are doing things to make these fires worse than tell us what these things are. Just make sure you realize a few things starting with the fact that wildfires are a natural occurrence that California is subject to more than the rest of the country. The reasons are its climate, dry conditions as to air and fuel, high winds, the many forests and terrain and the population and size of the state. The Santa Ana winds and dry conditions in southern California have been the driving force of fires as far back as recorded history goes so you’re not going to change that. You’re also not going to change the fact that 24 million people live in southern california , 40 million in the State. So tell us what we’re all missing here. Because your analogy without any further explanation would be one the stupidest things I’ve ever heard.

How does one clear everything that is flammable in an area so drought stricken that anything this side of dirt is flammable? Get ready as it will only get worse for all of us. Places like Utah where the Great Salt Lake is down 50% in the last 25 years. Means less snow, less rain, less water and more of a tinder box. Were used to fires in the back country but now we’re seeing them getting close to mass population areas. One small example of what everyone can expect in the future.
