Oh! The black background makes it so elegant. Fascinating how changing the background makes the same fabrics sing a different song. Playful to putting on the Ritz. What, oh what, will sing to you.

As a full time caregiver for my mother with Alzheimer’s, I am very interested in listening to that Ted talk and learning about memory. I’m very afraid of one day developing Alzheimer’s myself and don’t want to be a burden on my children. Thanks for sharing this with us even though it isn’t directly related to quilting 🤗

The dark harmony fabric would work best, as their is strong contrast between that fabric and all the other busy fabrics. I also have an original Olfa cutter. Love your daily videos from East Sussex,UK.

Hi Pat! I, too, vote on the black Harmony for the background. I like your light one, too, but think the black would really make a statement. My least favorite would be the polka dot. I think it looks too busy, but that's just my thought.

I'd go for the black background! I had a memory issue one day while I was driving...I was in my late 40's...I mentioned it to my doctor and we found out that I was totally B12 deficient.....Upon more research and seeing my hematologist he told me that lack of B12 can make you very forgetful and that now it was being linked to Alzheimers and Dementia....So being the daughter of a 67yr old that passed away with dementia, I take B12 injections every week..Not for the energy aspect but for the neurological aspect..... Have your B12 levels checked if you all the sudden have a memory issue....I sure will check into your suggestions! And OH....Where is the SLOAN ZONE cart? It wasn't in this video either! 😎

When I have small triangles left over I used to make HST squares. But some were VERY small. Then I got the idea to make the small triangles into Quarter square triangle blocks. You have to sew them differently than you would for HSTs but in the end they are much easier to sew using smaller triangles and are very versatile! Wish I had thought of this option earlier!!!

So many cool choices for the background on the Flapjack quilt. I like that first harmony fabric and the black. It reminds me of the night sky which would be cool with the owls, don’t you think? Good morning from Kentucky. I really love the polka dot flapjack idea and then you came to the black and that is very nice too. I also liked the the Harmony. But all and all I’m with you on what you choose, lm betting on black but I really want to go with the polka dot if it doesn’t get lost. Buy using it as the border could pull them out and bring the quilt together. It will be exciting to see your pick. I do struggle when picking fabrics.

Pat, listening to you with the pattern with the sun block, makes me think that maybe the pattern is just not right at this time for you. If you asked my advice, I would say put up the blocks on the wall and sit down and just ponder them. You're a great designer so think about how you would re-design this quilt. Whatever you do, it will be beautiful. Personally, I would put the sun in the middle and show it off.
@PatSloan2 жыл бұрын
I decided to make it like the pattern, when you listen to me think out loud...that is all it is..musings of the moment. Like you were sitting here in my room at that moment. It's fun to do that...but it does not mean I need to redesign an entire kit..that would be way more work than I'm interested in doing. 😍
