Tobey was closest to the comics I read for years. Peter Parker is not his secret identity- it is who he really is. Classic brainy nerd. He was hapless, earnest. Random Weird stuff always happened to him. He felt freer in the mask to be sarcastic but Garfield was too dark overall. And Tom is pretty close except how they make him sorta clueless never serious and somehow the character who was essentially alone has a whole posse, is VERY popular, fits in everywhere he goes even though he has no filter. Never even tries to stop the intrusive thoughts blurting out his mouth. So basically a total departure from the beloved character of half a century. They push so hard to make him remain a teenager but even Tom is growing up and it will show eventually. I truly loved how they got all 3 together for the last movie though. That was magic.
