Sergiu I love your stronghold videos, but I remember a stuff from old crusader..you can also not click on the type of siege tool every time, you click once on the catapult and automatically every time you move the cursor on the ground the engineer makes the tent for catapult or for portable shield, automatically u need not click every time on catapult -tent, catapult-tent

Spoiler: Tactical advantages 1. Wall up around where AI spawn and place tallest tower. Inplace as many Archer and Crossbow on the walls and towers. Set 2-3 groups to auto fire where AI spawn. 2. Between where the AI Spawn and your Keep. Starting at AI starting spawn point. Build tallest tower that's trailing to to your Keep. Place your best on the towers. 3. Wall up AI spawn point and build a long long (long) maze (Rate Maze). The bigger the army, the bigger the maze. Note, keep the maze open for AI to run through. If closed, AI will attack your walls and suck. 4. If you can try adding in other combinations like pitch fire ("let it burn", "launch the Cow").

Yeah kind of weird considering the fact its the definitve edition. Weird how it doesnt feel like a2023 version of a game. AoE2:DE is doing great and really shaped up the game

I imagine the build range for walls/towers is to prevent abuse, like putting a round tower+gatehouse with a mangonel right on top of your enemy’s food production in the first minutes of the game. As for the map size, this map actually seems fairly large, especially since it lacks stone and iron

i think the wall logic is for the immersion of being a castle builder not a city builder. it also gives the game the strategic dimension of deciding what you build in your castle and what outside, which also underlines the whole castle builder thing, pretty much like building a ... stronghold

you can bring oil pot. simcities like they built beg for one. it's our favourite tactic on multiplayer lobbies - sneaking hot pot into someone's base and FOOSH, few seconds everything is on fire and gg

here is a free cheat: have you heard of Macemen? cost much less than knights, easy to produce, move almost as fast, can swarm and destroy any catapult, archers or pickman armies. Here is another free cheat: Ale is not useless, make ale and use it for taxes, and keep the food for selling. The market is the first building you make, not the last

Honestly our focus is currently on getting SH:DE out on time with the best possible feature set, at which point we will assess our future goals, resources and projects with the team. But we do not recommend buying this game with a mindset of ‘Skirmish Mode is very likely to come in a later update’, because that is not the case." Thats from their FAQ. However they said they are focused on just getting it out (Which has happened) They will assess their goals. which could mean with enough push back about lack of skirmish could make it a goal for sure. another think to consider this game seems to be quite a success vs their other titles. Stronghold Warlords sow an all time peak of 4.5k players. DE has 7.9k Peak current 5.7k. I would hope they see how popular this game in particular is and push out a Skirmish mode. But as they said dont buy the the game with the mindset it will come later.

@@MrTheMortanius totally agree. I will say alot of people over look the freebuild because the name is deceiving. It has advanced settings for invasions and random events that happen. So though not skirmishes still fun for abit. I see reviews not explaining freebuild quite enough. But I 100% agree last of skirmishes is a short coming but still enough content for the price they ask. IMO

@@Zarturael not to mention in a dev diary they said there's literally ONE programmer on the project. I would love to see an AI skirmish mode added, but it was just not going to happen before launch. Maybe if the game sells well they will reconsider.
