Not one of the best games by far, but what went wrong with Strontium Dog for the Commodore 64 would you say? 😇🕹👌 =-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-=-= More from 1984: tinyurl.com/1984-C64-GAMES My Top Picks: tinyurl.com/CCGS-BEST-GAMES

You guessed it. I've never heard of this one. To be honest, this one might be one that I don't feel bad for having missed out on :-) Still, great video!

There are certainly mixed feelings towards this game, its just a bit to repetetive to be an addictive game... but for a quick blast, I think shoot em' up fans will enjoy it for 5 or so minutes at least 😇🕹️👌

I had the other Strontium Dog game on the speccy which was naff enough. But this one should be chucked in a skip!

Be great if they could revitalise Johnny Alpha in a modernised game - I love the whole backstory and the original 2000 AD comics 😇🕹️👌

Never heard of this game before. Even the character reminds me of the 2000AD comic books 😹😺🤘🕹️.

Yup, Strontium Dog was one of the 2000AD characters. A good comic, but not a massively great game... which was a shame 😇🕹👍

It certainly isn't a perfect game, granted... still, I like the use of the raster effects and it moves pretty fast for a shooter 😇🕹️👌

I think even Wulf Sternhammer would gladly give Quicksilver a bump "on der noggin, with der Happy Stick, old cucumber!" Loved big old Wulf. A Viking warrior with a big heart. Pity they killed him off.

Spoiler alert, haha - yeah Wulf was a cool character 😇🕹️👌

It looks super glitchy, which would make it hard to focus on in my opinion. It's interesting that the C64 game is so different from the others.

Yeah I agree - the raster flashing on screen made my head hurt after a while, ha 😇🕹️👌

Is it possible to reach the spaceship? It felt to me like an endless runner. I do like the atmosphere, but yeah, it feels like there's just not much to it really. Good video!

I guess so, but I never managed to get all the way through - even with a couple of trainers used - I tried playing without the 'aid' of a little bit of PEEK & POKE support... I just gave up after a while 😇🕹️👌

Had the first edition with the space spinner got my sister to buy me another to save forward to 1989 "mum where are those comics I saved in that case" "I gave them to charity" OUCH !

Ouch indeed! That collection would have been fetched a pretty penny now too. Hopefully they found themselves in a good home though 😇🕹👌

Frustrating isn't the word! The amount of times I'd find myself horizontally shooting out of the top of my head from tripping over a rock... then grimacing at the flashing raster bars 😇🕹️👌

I hope you cover Rogue Trooper it probably plays worse than it looks but it looks ambitious !. Like just a hair away from being a primitive fallout game.

Fallout is the daddy of post apocalyptic games but Rogue Trooper is definitely a very cool character. I've added it to the list... definitely get around to it eventually 😇🕹️👌

Ok, nevermind the gameplay, but why such lame raster lines? Did they test this thing? It wasn't that hard to fix them. I used to play with these back in the days, making effects for my intros wannabees.
@CheekyCommodoreGamer10 ай бұрын
I think they definitely overdid the raster effects but I suppose they would have been pretty cool when the game was first released 😇🕹👌
@Phreno_Xeno10 ай бұрын
I never got my head around how to play this. There was a C64 Nemesis the Warlock game as well. Never played it much, but I loved the comic. I had most of the series in graphic novel format published by Titan Books. Rebellion (lately of Sniper Elite and Zombie Army fame) owns the rights to 200AD, but seem loath to make games based on it, Dredd Versus Death and a Rogue Trooper game (which was remastered and re-released a few years ago) both released 20 years ago is the only titles I know about. I'd love to see an ABC Warriors Game, or a new Nemesis one.

Spent money on this game as a kid. It was terrible - utterly awful. If you left the main character to his own devices, he would complete the game by himself - just by automatically walking forward.

I've heard of the name (in an issue of C+VG), but never played the game, and after watching your video, I don't think I ever will! It looks like an ugly version of Metrocross with some shooting added, and mixed in with Jeff Minter-style psychedelic palette and effects, leading to a horrible looking and boring game 🤮
@CheekyCommodoreGamer10 ай бұрын
Admittedly the game does get quite boring after a little while, still... good to fire up and try at least once. This was part of the 30 Games compilation, so believe it or not I did play this quite a lot as a kid. It just hasn't aged very well 😇🕹️👌
