This was my first time trying to play Xordle and my mind pretty much melted. I also managed to get "hello" - so devious!!

Watching you play, I guessed HAUNT before you put in HELLO, and with that assumption in mind and considering all the greens in HELLO, it wasn’t hard to figure out that JELLO/CELLO were the only options for the second word. Two times out of three you spot things faster than I do, so it’s always fun when the opposite happens :)

I got both wrong because i guessed hello and it was all green so I didn’t think it could be haunt and cello

I got quite lucky today. Got it in 5. 2nd word I used was DAUNT, then tried HAUNT and got one word. Then I tried FLICK which meant I had C, E, O, & L but all were yellow. Then tried CELLO and finished the puzzle. Interestingly enough, yesterday I had to use up all of my tries & found out a neat feature on Xordle that I hadn't seen before: if you get the first word in your last guess, Xordle gives you a final bonus line to try to finish the puzzle. I thought that was nice.

You should try warmle, when you input a letter, it shows multiple yellows on the keyboard which means you are close.

Fun, challenging puzzle, good solve! I wasted a guess by trying GAUNT even though the green H was given. Still got a decent score 7. JELLO is not actually on the list of common answer words. It's also not in Merriam-Webster's "official" home/school Scrabble dictionary you can buy at Wal-Mart. The reason is, "Jell-O" is a registered trademark and Merriam-Webster's lawyers are very respectful of trademarks (it took them 20 years of research before they admitted that "internet" is not anyone's trademark). In all other contexts, "jello" is a playable word.

@@leobrouk Probably, but I think usually words that are disqualified for being proper nouns are not in either list. Either way, it's not necessarily consistent from one Wordle variant to the next, so I wouldn't say for sure that Jello couldn't be an answer.

@@StroSolves My bad. The dictionary says that "jello" has been genericized, along with quite a few other brands. Wordle accepts "xerox" and "zippo"; also "honda" but not "mazda". Go figure. :)
