After filming this, I have learnt that there appears to be some confusion over the Latton Culvert under the A419. The one I showed is on the line of the T&S, but I have since learnt that there is another one, albeit buried at present. Some sources state that it is the buried one which will be used. Can anyone who volunteers for the Cotswold Canals Trust clarifiy this? Also, does anyone have any information on the North Wilts Canal tunnel in Cricklade who knows the prescise whereabouts and its current condition. Thanks in advance! Paul.

Another really enjoyable video. So good to see the canal finally flowing through the ocean again. So different to when I last walked down there. I knew there was a delay but I am yet to take a walk down there.. thanks again for this great update Paul 👍🏻

I didn't envy the poor chap in the water shifting that canvas. Until watching your channel I had never considered the extraordinary work required in keeping the canal system going, never mind reopening parts that have closed.

Yes, I was mesmerised watching him - poor chap! I tried to film him discretely, but I think he noticed me towards the end. I was the only bystander there - the other people were from Network Rail and the utilities companies, because there are gas pipes in the area. Yes, an extraordinary amount of work and planning behind the scenes. Thanks again faith, take care, Paul.

Hello Paul - greetings from Poland. That was fantastic! So much news and information. I loved the open sequence with the "canal intro music". The walk from Cerney Wick was lovely and the information about the mileposts, brilliant. Opening the dam was a montous event. Water now flows from Ocean under the railway and looks like a canal. Very exciting times ahead at this site. Latton Basin was incredible. The North Wiltshire Canal is a new one for me. Weymoor Bridge is brilliant. What an incredible piece of work by the volunteers. Newtown, Blunder and Pike Locks was fascianting. So much to do! A fabulous video. You worked very hard to make it. Thanks so much

Thank you Michael! Yes, these canal updates are a lot of work, but I enjoy doing them. Glad you found it interesting. I am covering part of the Wilts&Berks canal in my latest vlog coming later today. The North Wilts linked up with the Wilts & Berks. Take care, Paul.

Hi Paul, your videos are getting more and more professional, well done. I love these T&S updates, it takes me back to when I used to tramp ii with my, not always willing, family 40 years ago. Thank you. Ron,

Hi Ron, that's very kind of you. I try and make each one to the best of my ability and within my technical budget, hopefully improving over time. Yes, I love the T&S, and although I want to see it restored, I also like walking along the derelict sections. It has an atmosphere all of its own. Glad it brought it back happy memories for you. Take care, Paul.

What a fantastic feet of engineering never to be repeated in our lifetime as long as we never relie on so called expert's for decision making in the 1960s 😎😎😎

It most certainly is John. It is precisely because of the engineering why I remain fascinated by these feats of eighteenth and early nineteenth century workmanship. I never get bored or amazed by what I see. Thanks for watching and commenting, Paul.

Thank you Simon. Thanks for watching and commenting. Yes, I think that there is some finishing off work to be done on the towpath at The Ocean end too. Of course, I will show that on Update 9 after the towpath opens. Thanks again, Paul.

Hi Paul. Another good video. I’m not sure how I feel about the state of the ocean. A lot of wildlife has been displaced there. Torn between love of canals and the wildlife if I’m honest. Kim and I enjoyed some great walks there last year seeing the heron and bird life going about there day. Your knowledge of the area is second to none and I do enjoy watching these updates. Have a great Easter. 👍🏻🚶🏻♂️🚶♀️. Watto & Kim.

Yes, me too! I know exactly what you mean, having lived for such a long time in Cornwall and now back in my birth county, Gloucestershire. Thanks for a lovely comment. There will, of course, be more Stroudwater and T&S updates coming up. Such an exciting time with much happening on these canals. Take care, Paul

Another fantastic video Paul I can't wait for update 9. What about the progress on the missing mile, when will they get the diggers in?
@westcountrywanderings2 жыл бұрын
Hi Geoff. That's a great question! I don't have an exact answer. I don't think they will start digging until next year. There is still some final SDC sign offs to be done. Hopefully, someone from the Trust watching this will be able to provide a better answer. Either way, I will be including progress of that, as it happens, right here on my channel. Thanks for watching and commenting 👍 Cheers Paul 🙂
