Hi A really really good job…I am doing a project in which new cranes are being installed on existing foundry building… Can I get load combination reference?
@goldgateengineering2 жыл бұрын
Thanks for the feedback, kindly refer to Table 2.2 on Eurocode 1:3 for the load combinations to be catered for in the crane girder analysis. Also refer to Table 2.6 for the values of the dynamic factors to be used.

Is the crane girder, modelled from each crane bracket to the other? And how is the weight of the crane rail assigned on the crane girder from the load combindatios? Thanks
@goldgateengineering2 жыл бұрын
The grane girder is modelled from bracket to bracket with adequate moment releases to cater for joint rotation at the bracket...the weight of the crane rails is very insignificant and is catered for by selfweight contingencies. The load combinations cater for dead loads with associated crane actions and the partial factors of safeties applied to the dead selfweight of the crane girder caters for that of the grane rails
@michaelzcun2 жыл бұрын
@@goldgateengineering thank you for your reply. Okay, for the moment releases, it's about Mx and Mz axes right?
@goldgateengineering2 жыл бұрын
@@michaelzcun No, the moment release for the crane girder is about the local Z-axis only which implies Mz

how can i generate load combinations for crane loads automatically?
@goldgateengineering2 жыл бұрын
U cant generate crane loads automatically as the wheel loads from the crane unto the girders are either calculated based on d minimum hook approach, end carriage wheel centres, weight of crab and crane bridge. Conversely these can also be provided by the vendor as shown in d video

Can make analysis and design for 2 building of the span 60m x height side 4m x length 210m without columns in middle, and other : span 60m x height side 12m x length 210m x 6 floor without columns in middle
@goldgateengineering Жыл бұрын
Yes this structural design can be done. But the connections would have to be designed as full strength and rigid and the rafters would have to be plastic sections in order to ensure the formation of rotational hinges and moment redistribution due to the span of the portal frame

what do you mean by member strengthening
@goldgateengineering2 жыл бұрын
Structural Member strengthening is a process of enhancing the cross-section of a member to improve its moment capacity, shear capacity or a combination of both. This can be achieved by the use of flange plates, wing plates or load bearing stiffeners or their combination. For an I-section for e.g, addition of flange plates typical thickness of plates on the flanges will increase the moment of inertia about the major principal axis of the section by the product of twice the cross-sectional area of the plates and the square of the perpendicular distance of the centroid of the plate to the centroid of the section.

I want to know the purpose of bottom tie beam between columns along length of building and width of building ?
@goldgateengineering3 жыл бұрын
The essence of a tie beam on portal frames is to provide out-of-plane stability of the structure. In plane stability of the structure is provided by the stiffness of the rafter and stanchion together with moment-resisting Eave haunches. Out of plane stability is provided by tie beams and vertical braces to transfer lateral forces to the foundations. Kindly subscribe to our channel
@aleximmanuel36213 жыл бұрын
@@goldgateengineering in your model there is no rcc pedestal present , the tie beams will be between the pedestals . The support boundary condition you have applied directly on steel columns and provided Rcc tie beams . Will this be the realistic case ?
@goldgateengineering3 жыл бұрын
@@aleximmanuel3621 Great question. This is not a realistic case as the tie beams connects directly to the pedestal to prevent differential consolidation settlements. They were only placed on the model for indicative purposes only and do not represent the actual boundary conditions for real time analysis.

Wow This video is outstanding I have three questions please (1) how does one carry out member strengthening in staadpro after the analysis (2) assuming the required foundation needed to sustain the load is reasonably larger than the former.. What advice do we give the client (3) please can u do a video tutorial on wind load generation Thank you sir
@goldgateengineering4 жыл бұрын
1. Member strengthening in staad.pro can be carried out by revisiting the analysis and adding stiffener plates or making section a compound one as the case implies...This can be done using, user provided sections within staad.pro 2. Client shall be advised that the existing foundation under the critical load case shall not be suitable and shall result to failure within the failure plane due to the increased reaction. Remedial solution of underpinning or similar shall be provided to client with corresponding structural details of modifications... 3. Subscribe so you get notification when we do a video tutorial on wind load generation. Kindly share this video and tell a friend
