As you mentioned latent variables do not have any specific value, but we take the covariance matrix of the indicators (observed variable) for the analysis in the CFA. Similarly, I wanted to ask in the case of path analysis in between latent variables only, what do we consider? Do we take the mean or weighted mean of indicators to form the latent variables?

"Factor analysis is conducted on the three proxies to arrive at a composite factor score " someones referred to it and I would like to do the same analysis. what does that mean? which type of factor analysis should I use?
