For the welding tests they should widen the gap limit so much wider out in the field

You /just been very busy. This is probably the most busiest part of my life because of how far my daughter has progressed in her softball career ,so as a father, my job is to have my shit together and make dreams possible, so thank you so much

Mike, what’s up, brother?, I met a brother boilermaker LOCAL 13 retired about a month ago at the gas station by the house. What a cool dude., I forget his name, but we chatted for a good half hour. He was just telling me stories about rigging and all the cool stuff that you guys do. It was very interesting. A different version of the stories I heard of boilermakers, but when I sat down and talk to the guy after we got gas, had cough and smoked a couple cigarettes and was almost like we were at break and he was talking Reagan holy shit, impressive, stay in touch

Nice 3/4" root opening, lol. It's not a CJP unless you backgouge the backing and reinforce the other side. I do everything open root. That shit would never fly for FEMA 353. I realize you guys aren’t in an earthquake zone out there, but that's how everything fell down during the Northridge earthquake in LA. Welding the bottom flange through the rat hole, bunch of slag in the center from cold starts. Impossible to clean. Code says a "continuous weld" for a reason. I respect you though, you're a hell of a stick. But, why in the world are you pushing back and forth? Can't possibly keep a consistent shelf doing that.

It actually is a complete joint penetration weld. Back gouging has nothing to do with a CJP weld. A CJP weld is when the weld extends through the thickness of the base metals. Back gouging is mainly used for PJP(Partial Joint Penetration. PJP is a groove weld does not extend through the thickness of the base metal. Then back gouging the opposite side to achieve full penetration throughout the base metals. It is not impossible to clean the weld passing through a rat hole as long as you maintain control of your filler metal. A continuous weld is one where a weld spans the length of the area that is required to be welded. Even if you stop at a rat hole and continue with a good tie in to finish the rest of the weld it is a continuous weld
